Chenoy's propose de la viande fumée authentique préparée selon les traditions culinaires montréalaises les plus rigoureuses. Was at Chenoys on the weekend for a late morning breakfast. Had the simple (yet delicious) basic two eggs, toast, coffee, fruit salad, & potatoes.
Everything was fresh & plentiful. Plated neatly & cleanly. Portions were generous & all was very very tasty. Even the bottomless (brewed) decaf coffee was quite satisfying. The atmosphere was classic Montreal deli style with an ageless design that makes you feel at home - hopefully they will not change this as it is quite quaint as well.
& the service: polite, respectful, attentive, detail oriented, & got the order to perfection - even the extra potatoes & well done scrambled my guest. & he was always making sure that our table had what it needed & checked in with us - even though he had a huge section he alone was managing fantastically.
All in all I wrote this because I found this experience to be not just as good as other breakfast specialty places like eggspectation, l'Ouffrier, & others, it was actually better!! Better in very possible way for that matter. & the bonus, for those who love or appreciate a good smoked meat, you can smell the wafting aroma of their classic & delicious smokers meat warming in their steamer. & by the way, as one of the meats, you can have smoked meat with your breakfast to boot!!!
So be a Tourist or a Local, GO to Chenoys for a great meal & dining experience you shall not regret it. & to boot, the pricing is not par with the the quality, portions etc, it is less expensive than the competition hence - even celle t value for your money as well.
So you know, ordered their breakfast poutine & its was fantastic see photos.
Love to hear everyone's expletive.
Recently visited Chenoys on Boul. St-Jen in D.D.O. Had the original old fashion smoked meat sandwich with the obligatory cherry coke. The plate was great! Only comment - the interior decor is tired & needs a refresh. Other than that, had a great experience. The service was fast & courteous.
Chenoys has been around forever. I remember riding my purple bike with the paisley banana seat there, wearing my bright yellow CKGM t-shirt, to win a free smoked meat sandwich. I live in Toronto now & visit Montreal a few times a year, & always, always, & always, stop in at Chenoys. I eat there with some trepidation because, although the place looks clean, albeit dated, it smells like a toilet. But it's the best place I know of to buy a smoked meat sandwich. My mom is in a nursing home & I always bring her a sandwich & a slice of strawberry cheesecake.
L'institution de l'ouest de Montréal Chenoy a été fermée en urgence en 2022 par les inspecteurs après une infestation de souris, qui lui ont depuis collé quatre amendes pour la présence de vermine.
Old school deli & restaurant. Opened 24 hours. Large parking lot, easy to find a space, the entrance is around the front. We went in for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday around 10:30am. No wait to sit down. Service was friendly & helpful answering questions we had about the menus. Coffee & water was quickly served while we settle on what to order. The decor is old school deli/bar counter as well as leather booths. The lights above the booths have Chenoy 1936 emblazoned on them. Good variety of selections, have a separate breakfast menu as well. The smoked meat is available in different items throughout the menu. Had the smoked meat omelet, & the big boy breakfast combo. Food came out quickly, hit the spot. If I came again I'd definitely have the smoked meat sandwich. The meat in the omelet had a nice classic smoked meat flavor.
Chenoy's Deli never disappoints! Whenever we pass through the West Island, we always stop here even if just for take out. Generous portions, delicious smoked meat, & you have to try a slice of their strawberry cheesecake (if you've got room!) It's a shame they're not open 24 hours anymore, but a definite stop if you can!
Eating at Chenoy's was meant to be a trip down memory lane...Chenoy's is barely a shadow of what it used to be. It was disappointing & under whelming after an almost 20 yr. absence from living in the area. Perhaps my memories are slightly tainted on the nostalgia- however, even as a stand alone dining experience it paled to a number of similar deli style restaurants. I ordered the Jumbo Plate. It was less meat than I was told (definitely Not the 1 lb they told me before ordering)... the rest of the meal was made up of lots of fries (over compensation?) & a decent side coleslaw. All in all - Quite Over Priced! While the food quality was good, I could not say it was exceptional in any way. As far as atmosphere- the place was & seems dead every time I go by it.
Me & my wife went to chenoy at st jean yesterday on Saturday & its been a long time since i last visited. The smoke meat was the same as it used to be long ago & we were served by a young guy named vivian or viv i think. He took care of us & was really impressed how professional & nice he was to us. Definitely a good place to get smoke meat
