Review Summary

Chand Palace is highly regarded for its delicious and authentic Indian cuisine, with many diners highlighting the exceptional butter chicken, flavorful bhel puri, and a wide variety of excellent vegetarian options. The dishes are consistently described as well-spiced, hearty, and offered at a great value, making it a favorite spot for both dining in and delivery. While the food quality receives frequent praise, some visitors have expressed frustration regarding unprofessional service interactions at the payment counter.

We had dinner at Chand Palace on a Sunday evening as a group of four & ordered several dishes to share: palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, masala dosa, mixed biryani, & the mixed tandoori platter. The total came to around CAD $80 before tip, which felt like a reasonable price for four people.

The biggest downside was the wait. Although there were only about four other occupied tables, our food took over 30 minutes to arrive. It appeared that the restaurant was prioritizing online & takeout orders, which unfortunately affected the dine-in experience.

As for the food, it was decent but didn't quite stand out. Most of the dishes were a little too salty, which overpowered some of the flavors. The masala dosa had a good filling, but the dosa itself would have been much better if it had been crispier & freshly made. The mixed tandoori platter had a fairly high spice level, but the seasoning & smoky flavors were just average rather than memorable. The palak paneer & chicken tikka masala were enjoyable enough, while the mixed biryani was satisfying but not particularly distinctive.

Overall, Chand Palace offers fair value for the price, but the portions could be a bit more generous, & the execution of several dishes could be improved. It wasn't a disappointing meal, but it also wasn't one that would make me eager to return immediately. I'm interested in trying some of the other Indian restaurants in the Montreal area to see how they compare, as I haven't yet found one that truly stands out. Based on this visit, I'd rate Chand Palace around 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I don't often post reviews but had to for this one. I have been away from montreal for a few years. Have tried butter chicken from multiple locations but always felt something lacking when comparing with butter chicken of chand palace. Now got a chance to visit montreal again & getting butter chicken from here was one thing on my montreal to-do list. Same taste that has been lingering on my tongue all these years. Delicious! Now i can die in peace. Over & out.

Good value for the money, I ordered the lamb thali & my daughter ordered the chicken thali. We ordered it to go, naan bread doesn't travel well, it looses its crispness & becomes chewy. The main course was about average but the vegetables dish was very tasty, crispy,& a tad crunchy, in a word excellent. We also ordered the samosas they were about the size of a fist, moist, & very flavorful with a flaky crust.

Went last night(10pm) with my son. Very busy place. Actually all Indian restaurants in area were full. Customers seemed to appreciate Bring your own wine at Chand Palace. Food was excellent. Great portions & fantastic price. Had Naan bread, 2 chicken plates, large rice bowl with chicken. Plenty of food for 2 plus doggy bad for one... All for $29 tax incl.
I will be back for more.
