For regional cuisine at its best, come savor traditional Portuguese flavors at Casa Minhota! Our meals take on a festive look and the menu reflects old gourmet traditions. Our chef puts all of his creativity on the plate, lunch and supper, for our hungry customers. You can choose among a carefully selected wine list to complement your meal.
Casa Minhota draws overall praise for its warm, homey Portuguese comfort and authentic flavors, with guests noting generous portions, fresh seafood like octopus and cod, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere that evokes Portugal. The experience is described as more about soul and tradition than polish, with attentive service that is friendly without being intrusive, and a decor that makes visitors feel transported. While many visits are consistently good, a few reviews point to off nights where seasoning, timing, or preparation fell short and some dishes felt overcooked or parts of the menu did not meet expectations; however, the consensus remains that the restaurant offers genuine cuisine at good value and a memorable sense of place. Overall, Casa Minhota is seen as a Montreal staple for traditional Portuguese meals, a place to gather with family or friends and feel welcomed back to the homeland.
Food is incredible there. Loved that all waiters spoke Portuguese, this made the experience even more authentic. Music not too loud. We will be back for sure!
A somber reason for having a dinner here. However, the service was rapid, courteous, & efficient. For years I was told there was a man here who shared my first name. I thought I was being put on. Lol, I wasn't. They gave us privacy from the remainder of the restaurant, but they were very attentive. I thank the staff for their service.
All the meat was overcooked but OK. Shrimp was great & bread tasty. Lobster...meh. Service was normal if a little ingratiating. Dessert was a small pastry typico, but it had been frozen & microwaved without our knowledge, & when my brother went to bite into it, it scalded his hand. It was excessively hot only on the inside, & although some ice was brought for his injured fingers, we did NOT receive an apology or any adjustment to our bill despite the 3 of us eating. This joint has hung around all these years & is attractive to look at but, no, I don't recommend it at all...there's so much better food in this city if you look.

Always well received. Ze Manuel & Darcy always take special care of me & my wife & guests. Food is very good & reasonably priced offers always available.
Comida tradicional portuguesa saborosa, com várias opções de prato do dia. Preço justo. Atendimento pouco cortês, mas eficiente. Ambiente com azulejos portugueses.
Amazing dining experience, gave free rein to Joe for our table d'hôte & was fantastic, everything was fresh & tasty with big portions, the house white was really good, nice atmosphere. Definitely have to come back to try all the tapas that I missed!
