For regional cuisine at its best, come savor traditional Portuguese flavors at Casa Minhota! Our meals take on a festive look and the menu reflects old gourmet traditions. Our chef puts all of his creativity on the plate, lunch and supper, for our hungry customers. You can choose among a carefully selected wine list to complement your meal.
Casa Minhota draws overall praise for its warm, homey Portuguese comfort and authentic flavors, with guests noting generous portions, fresh seafood like octopus and cod, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere that evokes Portugal. The experience is described as more about soul and tradition than polish, with attentive service that is friendly without being intrusive, and a decor that makes visitors feel transported. While many visits are consistently good, a few reviews point to off nights where seasoning, timing, or preparation fell short and some dishes felt overcooked or parts of the menu did not meet expectations; however, the consensus remains that the restaurant offers genuine cuisine at good value and a memorable sense of place. Overall, Casa Minhota is seen as a Montreal staple for traditional Portuguese meals, a place to gather with family or friends and feel welcomed back to the homeland.
This was the first place we ate at. It was late & we were looking for something that wasn’t going to have a wait & be in the area. There are a lot of Portuguese restaurants so thought we should try one out, but this one fell short despite decent reviews. The service was fine, but not super attentive & pretty minimalist except for the server at the end who was nice enough to give an extra free dessert to go.
Food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. The mussels tasted fishy & many weren’t opened. The octopus seemed more like a mixed salad with octopus instead of the octopus being the main star of the dish. The seafood plate was basically lobster (which I do appreciate & that was good) with other average seafood around it. They don’t give descriptions so you don’t know what you’re getting on the plate.
The bar area seemed more local & friendly. A decent amount of tables that were close but not too close, atmosphere was fine - not too loud, but felt lively enough. Overall I’d try elsewhere especially with the amount of great food in Montreal.
Très bon restaurant . Première visite accompagné de très bons amis.tout était bon . Le choix de vin est impressionnante.le dessert dont j ai oublié le nom est a tombe par terre. Je recommande sans équivoque

Casa Monhota is a culinary gem that transcends expectations. The presentation is a feast for the eyes, with vibrant colors & meticulous attention to detail. The ambiance, the flavors, & the service coalesce into an evening that transcends mere sustenance. Whether it's a special occasion or an intimate dinner, this establishment is a haven for those who appreciate the art of gastronomy. We will definitely come back the next time we visit the city.
The food was so good! I ordered the house steak & it was delicious. The ambiance with the music & decorations is very pleasant & the staff was kind & attentive to our needs. Definitely order the natas do céu dessert, it's divine.
Excellent great food & reasonable prices & our waiter was pleasant. He shared how to make the Natas do céu dessert at home. Truly delightful.
Thank you for a warm & lovely night out on a cold March evening.
Repas savoureux, service empressé chaleureux & détendu à la fois, ambiance simple, décontractée, quasi familiale... J'adore la casa Minhota. & je souhaite qu'elle reste ouverte le midi!
