Super great paella lot of choice Price is okay Fresh food Great sangria
Restaurant Galicia displays an authentic decor & soft Spanish music. We were two couples who went for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered a variety of tapas, the shrimps (with tomatoes) were tasty, the fried calamares less so, patatas bravas were good & spicy. Our table ordered three different paellas & the chef was kind enough to accomodate allergies & excluding from one of the paellas some seafood, at out request. The paellas were good, but the lobster was not very tender. One person ordered a grilled fish that turned out to be excellent, moist, crisp outside. Large sangria jar. Food portions were generous. Service was very slow, despite the limited number of guests on that day, & we waited a long time between tapas & paellas, ending up eating a lot of bread, & thus feeling less hungry when the main course arrived. The restaurant has an interesting flamenco show on weekends which gives more authenticity to the place. Difficult to park (October 2021, many constructions around). The restaurant has put in place all adequate measures against COVID-19.
Beautiful evening, we had the yummy three variation tapas, traditional paella Valenciana & a delicious pitcher of Sangria. All this while enjoying the spectacle provided by the lovely flamenco dancer & lovelier Spanish guitarist. The service was impeccable & no one minded that we were still talking away after everyone else had left. Absolutely charmed by the warmth of the decor as well.
I do not do many reviews, but Casa Galicia is worth it! Cozy, inviting, classy. The food is superb, & their house sangria is DELICIOUS! Service was wonderful. I speak some French, & very little Spanish, but our waiter enjoyed speaking Spanish with our daughter, & was patient in English with me. We missed the Flamenco entertainment because we came on a Sunday, & we hope to come back to Montreal & Casa Galicia soon. Muchas graçias, Casa Galicia!
Beautiful cozy Spanish restaurant. Where the BEST paella & sangria is in town. Amazing & friendly service. Had an amazing time & the food was delicious.... authentic Spanish restaurant.
The food is excellent,as well as the service.I highly recommend people try the sangria.
La meilleure paella & sangria à Montréal. Le service est impeccable & le propri super sympathique. Merci pour cette belle soirée!!!
Really excellent Gazpacho & the best Spanish Garlic Chicken we ever had. Sangria was balanced, fruity & refreshing. Service great! Highly recommend!
What I like the most about casa Galicia was the service, the waiters are very welcoming & nice. The food is good but the paella is not the best I have tried, however, the place is amazing for romantic date, they have flamenco show Fridays & Saturday. I will definitely come back to try the tapas & Sangria.
We came from Ottawa to Montreal for a special weekend, & we chose Casa Galicia (1) because it was authentically Spanish, & we had previously traveled to Spain & loved the cuisine & We plan to return to Casa Galacia on another occasion. wines, & (2) friends from Ottawa had previously eaten there & loved it & recommended it to us. We found the interior colorfully decorated in authentic Spanish tradition, We found the staff very welcoming, & they seated us where we could see the dance show during dinner. This dinner show was composed of a guitarist & a flamenco dancer, both excellent, & with may acclamations of Olé from the dinner guests & rounds of applause! I ordered a dish of Andalusian Gazpacho & it was delicious, with lots of garlic in it. The bread was spicy & tasty. We ordered traditional Spanish Paella, mixed seafood & meat. It was served hot & was delicious. The volume was enough for two persons & we could not finish our plates, & so resolved to order one dish of Paella for two persons next time, We also ordered two glasses the famous Rioja red wne at $16 per glass, & it was full bodied & delicious, worth every penny! We were too full to order dessert, but next time would order the Catalan Cream. I ordered a glass of the house Sangria, & it was fruity & delicious. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. There is limited on street parking, so best to take cab or walk. We parked two blocks away under a municipal library. St. Denis & Sherbrooke is a popular evening area, & quite safe, lots of people walking on a Friday evening. We will definitely return to Casa Galicia, & we will tell our friends about this wonderful little Spanish.
The Food was amazing la paella casera y la paella catalana so tasty that reminded me home... Highly recommended sangria without alcohol (for those who have drive after) the service high standards. They did make us feel welcome. ..Thank la Casa Galicia, for an amazing time.
Bon acceuil, bon service!
I am very satisfied with my evening at Casa Galicia. We went on a Friday evening at around 9pm & there was a flamenco duo (male guitarist / female dancer) that performed really well. We had the house Sangría & it was probably the best sangría I've ever had. For appetizer I had the Gazpacho Andaluz & it was well made. A friend & I shared the Valenciana Discovery Menu (easily feeds 3 or even 4) & it was so delicious. From the appetizer tray, the croquetas de bacalao were my favorite & the choizo was a close second place. The Paella Valenciana was very rich, generous, well made, & delicious. It's the best paella I've had in Montreal; better than the ones I had in Barroco, Douro & Solmar. I was too full for dessert. The only complaint that I have is that the paella wasn't made with what I'd consider to be the correct grain of rice: "bomba", "Calasparra" or (though not referred) "Arborio". The flavor was definitely there, & I'd eat it again anytime; I just would have loved to have that "al dente" texture that you get when you use the right grain. The second challenge is parking, but that's just Montral; take a cab. Bottomline: I will definitely be back, & so should you. Check their website to see the when the next flamenco performance will be & brace yourself for the whole package of great food & show.
