Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and distinctive décor make every visit memorable. On weekends, the experience is elevated with live flamenco performances, including a professional Spanish guitarist, bringing a touch of Spain’s vibrant culture to the heart of the city.
Casa Galicia stands out as a welcoming spot with generous portions, flavorful seafood and paella, friendly service, and a warm authentic Spanish ambiance, enhanced by lively flamenco on select nights and a memorable overall experience that makes guests want to return.
This was the best Spanish food that we had in a while. We went for a 4 day trip to Montreal & thank god we found this gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing with Spanish music as background but low enough that you could have a conversation. Plus, the service was amazing everyone was super attentive to the point that we never asked for more water or sangria they were always on top of it. & they answered all of our questions. We order the Valencia Discovery Menu, & it was perfect. It has a bit of everything. A octopus salad, cod croquettes, grilled shrimp & grilled squid as appetizers. & for the main dish a Paella Valenciana. Everything was savory & with very good portions. For drinks we went for a large Red Sangria Pitcher & it was well balanced. So good that we order 2 . Overall our experience was excellent. Whenever we are back to Montreal we will be back. The only thing is that they didn't had the live show but tbh it was not needed.

Delicious food in generous portions served by gracious & attentive staff in charming ambiance. This is a perfect spot for a cozy evening spent listening to great Spanish music, enjoying the cuisine & feeling nestled in tastefully decorated restaurant.
Amazing staff ! delicious traditional Spanish meals! Great wine selection. The dessert are fantastic. & the flamenco dancer & musicians are simply unbelievable one of my favorite place in Montreal. The design of the restaurant really makes you feel like you travelled.
Such a lovely, warm, delicious evening. Casa Galicia has been hiding in plain sight since opening in 1977. I've gone over the years but for the first time with a Spanish friend who confirmed my suspicions that this was one of the best Spanish restos in Montreal. Authentic & delicious, their preparation & & service excels in almost every way. Oh we will all be back & I can bet so will you when once you try it!
Excellent souper typique Spanish ! Tapas, paella & cazuela. Le spectacle de flamenco avec le guitariste a ajouté de la saveur à la soirée ! Luis Miguel, notre serveur est très professionnel & attentionné. Je recommande Casa Galicia. Je reviendrai très bientôt avec la familia ! Olé !

Restaurant Galicia displays an authentic decor & soft Spanish music. We were two couples who went for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered a variety of tapas, the shrimps (with tomatoes) were tasty, the fried calamares less so, patatas bravas were good & spicy. Our table ordered three different paellas & the chef was kind enough to accommodate allergies & excluding from one of the paellas some seafood, at out request. The paellas were good, but the lobster was not very tender. One person ordered a grilled fish that turned out to be excellent, moist, crisp outside. Large sangria jar. Food portions were generous. Service was very slow, despite the limited number of guests on that day, & we waited a long time between tapas & paellas, ending up eating a lot of bread, & thus feeling less hungry when the main course arrived. The restaurant has an interesting flamenco show on weekends which gives more authenticity to the place. Difficult to park (October 2021, many constructions around). The restaurant has put in place all adequate measures against COVID-19.
Beautiful evening, we had the yummy three variation tapas, traditional paella Valenciana & a delicious pitcher of Sangria. All this while enjoying the spectacle provided by the lovely flamenco dancer & lovelier Spanish guitarist. The service was impeccable & no one minded that we were still talking away after everyone else had left. Absolutely charmed by the warmth of the decor as well.
I do not do many reviews, but Casa Galicia is worth it! Cozy, inviting, classy. The food is superb, & their house sangria is DELICIOUS! Service was wonderful. I speak some French, & very little Spanish, but our waiter enjoyed speaking Spanish with our daughter, & was patient in English with me.
We missed the Flamenco entertainment because we came on a Sunday, & we hope to come back to Montreal & Casa Galicia soon.
Muchas graçias, Casa Galicia!

Very nice place for dinner, friendly & attentionate service. Had the plato de Mariscos for two & it was excellent, nicely seasoned & nice variety, Langostina, crab legs, lobster, king shrimps, mussels clams & a nicely saffran laced arroz bomba....a taste & warmth of Espana in cold Montreal. The Spanish wine selection is also superb for the aficionado , had a 1991 Monte Real reserva from Rioja. Excellent.
Beautiful cozy Spanish restaurant. Where the BEST paella & sangria is in town. Amazing & friendly service. Had an amazing time & the food was delicious.... authentic Spanish restaurant.
The restaurant was easy to find & close to Sherbrooke metro station. The place had an authentic Spanish ambiance, tasty food & the show was very entertaining. The servers were polite & efficient. Overall it was a great evening out.
Casa Galicia was definitely a great dining experience. Their calamari were probably the best I've had. A great authentic Spanish dining experience. We particularly enjoyed the flamenco guitar & dance performance at 8:30pm. I understand this is a regular weekend thing
We came from Ottawa to Montreal for a special weekend, & we chose Casa Galicia (1) because it was authentically Spanish, & we had previously traveled to Spain & loved the cuisine & We plan to return to Casa Galacia on another occasion. wines, & (2) friends from Ottawa had previously eaten there & loved it & recommended it to us. We found the interior colorfully decorated in authentic Spanish tradition, We found the staff very welcoming, & they seated us where we could see the dance show during dinner. This dinner show was composed of a guitarist & a flamenco dancer, both excellent, & with may acclamations of Olé from the dinner guests & rounds of applause! I ordered a dish of Andalusian Gazpacho & it was delicious, with lots of garlic in it. The bread was spicy & tasty. We ordered traditional Spanish Paella, mixed seafood & meat. It was served hot & was delicious. The volume was enough for two persons & we could not finish our plates, & so resolved to order one dish of Paella for two persons next time, We also ordered two glasses the famous Rioja red wne at $16 per glass, & it was full bodied & delicious, worth every penny! We were too full to order dessert, but next time would order the Catalan Cream. I ordered a glass of the house Sangria, & it was fruity & delicious. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. There is limited on street parking, so best to take cab or walk. We parked two blocks away under a municipal library. St. Denis & Sherbrooke is a popular evening area, & quite safe, lots of people walking on a Friday evening. We will definitely return to Casa Galicia, & we will tell our friends about this wonderful little Spanish.
Certainly the best Spanish restaurant in Montreal. Their choices of seafood, the freshness & cooking experience makes this place a must for seafood lovers & more. The service of the experienced staff, the quality of the food, & the Mediterranean atmosphere make this place a jewel to cherish for a long time.
