You will find a typical Portuguese restaurant at O Cantinho.
You will travel to the Algave's hot beaches, Lisbon's cafés, you will enjoy the nostalgic sound of Fado and smell the flavors of spices as you will enjoy tasting the best Portos.
Cantinho Express receives mixed feedback across reviews, with many praising the chicken as flavorful, tender and juicy, the sauces appealing, and portions generous, especially for take-out or delivery when it arrives hot and fresh. Several diners call it one of the best grilled chicken options around and note reliable dining experience and helpful staff, though other comments describe indifferent or unfriendly service, occasional slowdowns, and issues with order accuracy such as missing potatoes, rice, or utensils. The ambiance is described as plain or dim, but the food itself is often highlighted as the standout, including strong sides and consistent quality on repeat visits. Some critics report inconsistency over time, noting changes in taste or style and instances of undercooked chicken or overly oily textures, which dampen the overall experience for those attempts. Overall, Cantinho Express is seen by many as a solid option with standout chicken and substantial portions, yet service and consistency can vary, so experiences differ by visit.
This is the worst by far i've had from you! When you barely opened you were soo good & gave great portions & i understand the economy isn't so good these days but i will definitely be going to PFK from now since buying'chicken' from you is clearly impossible now, no all you get for half a chichen is 4 little freaking chickens. PFK definitely does better than you & is way cheaper! You should be ashamed to give service like this & to have your workers justify it with'sometimes the chickens are smaller' or'you ordered more fries therefore the chicken is less'!!!! Wtaf!!! Never again!

We reserved for our christmas family party for pick up.
When we got home with our food it was still piping hot! Food was super fresh chicken was tender & juicy! The sauces on chicken was delicious! The little round potatoes were a huge hit at our table!
We highly recommend cantinho's for delicious Portuguese chicken!
I have been a customer for several years. I mainly order now with Door Dash. Food always arrives hot & delicious. Great charcoal chicken & spiced just right
Haitian people tookover the business & the food they are making isn't like what I remember in the past when White people & Portuguese people was running it, It's not Portuguese, It's Creole food that pretends to be Portuguese, Cashier is very rude, Place look dim, dingy, kitchen is a mess, cooks look tired & miserable, Chicken, Fries decent, Rice horrible, I don't recommend there to anybody, It had seen better days when it first opened after Harvey's Restaurant left there.
Went there with a work colleague for lunch. I don't know why it is a 3.9. I think the food was very good. I've had the chicken breast. I've had the burger & I've had the sandwich & every time it was delicious. You have a choice of mild medium or hot sauce. I took the medium which is not hot at all as far as I'm concerned but very delicious. I really don't understand the place doesn't look like much from outside but it's really really good food. I suggest that & I'm a picky eater, a little bit picky. This place is really really good. I'm going to share a picture of our meals. The picture you're going to see is the chicken breast or the chicken leg with the you have a choice of three sides which are all delicious. The service is not super super fast but it's okay they take care of you. They talk to you. They're overall very serviceable & professional. Like I said, the place doesn't look like much, but it's really good. One of those places cover. It's one of those hidden gems. I like to call it so if you go there & you try it & you like it the way we do leave a comment for them. Give them a little five star to help them because they're worthy of a high score online. Having gone there & experienced it more than once I can really say so. Don't hesitate guys go try it out. It's on Henri Bourassa & it's very good
Been here many times before & service & chicken Incredible now you need to beg for your chicken to be well done while there all just walking around & barely working ...get normal employees that work & stop socializing with themselves..total turn off I actually thought out there chicken..
Chicken was fine, Rice was fine, the potatoes were not edible. The thick layer of oil was nauseating. This was the first time we experienced this. We usually order for take out, this time we ordered on delivery...most likely won't order again unfortunately.

Ordered a chicken family trio, chicken was cut up, the cooking was uneven, some pieces were burnt & there was a chicken leg that was not well done, the meat was pink. Salad was old & limpy, salad dressing was watered down. Fries were cold & tasted reheated. Haven't ordered from here in a while, the standards have really dropped.
Unique taste. The best I've had in mtl so far. Dine in & take out. Not a fancy restaurant. Available parking in front & in the back. Family combo 1.5L drink, 6 pieces of chicken + 2 side choices = about 46$ I usually opte for the vegetables & roasted potatoes as side choices. Good quantity for the price.
The food is amazing, I really liked the style of the place & the decor, the staff was polite, efficient & the gentleman that took our order & the rest of the staff offered great service, the chicken, rice & the potatoes were delicious & the portions are enormous & prices are reasonable. Totally worth it... I highly recommend it!!
I find myself in a bit of a dilemma while writing this review. After our go-to restaurant closed its doors, my boyfriend & I decided to give its second location a try. Unfortunately, our experience has been quite mixed. The old place set a high standard, though there was an odd situation with a waitress who insisted on dictating tips - that was annoyingly strange. Hopefully she won't be back when the restaurant relaunches. This location hasn't been consistent. On several occasions, we ordered the chicken plate only to find it undercooked in various places. Unlike the previous menu, they no longer offer boneless chicken breast, only boneless thighs, which, for a food enthusiast like me, makes a noticeable difference in taste. The piri piri sauce seems to lack the rich flavors it once had. Despite expecting more from their only remaining location, the overall experience was inconsistent, leaving us consistently disappointed. I am not sure if we'll be returning.
