Dans l'ensemble Candide est perçu comme un joyau local avec des ingrédients du terroir et une cuisine réfléchie, dans une ambiance chaleureuse et intime et un service attentif. Les accords mets et vins sont souvent loués pour leur qualité et leur équilibre, et les menus dégustation mettent en valeur le produit québécois de saison avec un soin évident. Les expériences varient, plusieurs convives décrivent des saveurs inventives et fraîches et une cuisine ouverte réfléchie, tandis qu'une minorité estime que certains plats ne sont pas aussi mémorables ou étaient trop salés. Malgré quelques incohérences occasionnelles, l'ambiance, le dévouement de l'équipe et la possibilité d'explorer différents accords ou choix végétariens incitent beaucoup à revenir pour une autre visite.

More concept than good food. Nice interior, competence service. Wine list is a bit obnoxious, dining companion & I both have a good knowledge of wine, including Quebec wines, & we didn't recognize anything. A few or even a lot of odd wines on a list are fine, but resto needs at least a couple well known vineyards. Menu looked good, cooking didn't match. Had rabbit, it was tough. Crab appy was good. Look, this is not a bad resto, but at this price point I expect much better.

What an amazing restaurant. Tasting menu has a lot of quality & seasonal ingredients. The highlights of the meal for me were the crab & carrot dish as well as the mushroom oat porridge. I visited Montreal during the snow crab season, so the crab was out of this world. The porridge was savory & hearty. Service was attentive & friendly. The waitresses were so nice & sweet. One of the waitresses was also in charge of making cocktails, & the drink that I got was delicious. The restaurant is in the back of an old church & has a very unique vibe.

Expérience hors pair. Nous y sommes allés il ya 3 semaines & nous avons tout aimé du repas principal, du service & du lieu. On apprécie l'utilisation de produits frais & locaux. Le personnel est sympathique & prend soin de bien nous présenter les plats. Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir le crabe des neiges en entrée, succulent. L'entrée de champignons était exquise également. Le morue & l'agneau en plat principal nous ont comblés. Seule petite déception avec le dessert qui se démarquait moins & l'un de nous avait une boule de crème glacée dure comme du ciment. Ah oui, leur pain est vraiment excellent & offert à volonté!!

Restaurant Candide offers a welcoming & intimate setting & it is clear that every detail is accounted for (down to luxurious candles burning throughout the restaurant). The staff was friendly & professional, balancing attentiveness while giving us space to enjoy our night seamlessly. The food was refreshing, thoughtful & surprising. I appreciate a slow deliberate meal, never feeling rushed nor forgotten. The smoked oysters were delightful & the sea bass was complimented perfectly with the mushrooms & fennel.

C'est difficile de trouver des problèmes chez Candide, l'expérience est complete, recherchée & de la plus grande qualité, les valeurs du chef sont très fortes & il vous les offre gracieusement. Le personnel est formé & informé à la perfection, tout le service est d'une fluidité impeccable. Les plats & vins en majorité locaux, si importés d'une qualité irréprochable & à chaque produit on nous raconte son histoire. Je suis extrêmement impressionnée par les diverses conserves faites maison & apprêtées avec soin & en accord avec les repas.

Food is great. Honey at the end was such a special touch. The service is amazing: friendly, kind, fast between courses, but you don't feel rushed at all. Would definitely recommend Candide for a great night out with really delicious food.

Been here a few times over the years & the experience is always impeccable. The food is inventive, fresh, & delicious with a continuously changing menu. The staff are beyond sweet & knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend going whether you're a local or a tourist!

Really really good. A little hard to find but very interesting food & so good. The parsnip in tomato sauce appetizer was incredible. So was the arctic char. But the really killer part was the honey as the final, final course. Paired with a honey wine. Worth the price of admission itself. Highly recommended. Would absolutely go back.

Attentive staff, innovative tasting menu, farm to table creations using local ingredients, incredible flavours. Note - Restaurant is difficult to find.....they did say it's at the back of the church. Take the regular roads & don't take the alleyways.

I don't understand what's the hype about this restaurant, I paid 300$ for my wife's birthday dinner for lettuce & carrots & a subpar beef dish. The service & the staff was amazing. Please if you think you want a nice restaurant that offers fine dining you can find better places for much less. Or any average restaurant will provide the same food for far less

Nous nous sommes assis au bar & avons assisté à toute la synchronisation des plats & la minutie de l'équipe. Ils sont extrêmement attentifs aux petits détails & le tout paraît dans l'assiette. C'est une cuisine qui se renouvelle constamment & l'envie de revenir aussi. L'ambiance est franchement agréable, sans prétention, une chose que j'apprécie particulièrement, tout comme le choix des bières comme la Auval, qu'on retrouve très rarement.

Came here with friends, tried to enjoy it but just had an okay time. This place needs to be booked in advance. However, the menu changes often, so you never know what you are going to get. The menu is just two choices (fish or meat & for dessert either sweet or one-piece of cheese). I was faced with really tough choices as I immediately did not like either choice in our case, Peckerel fish or Guinea fowl. There are NO other options you can order, if not for our friends, I probably would have left before ordering. We had Brussel sprouts as first, & mussels over a bed of yogurt (what a wired combination of ingredients!!) For main course my wife chose Peckerel ( I personally don't like fresh water predator fish) & it was barely eatable with little fish meat & lots of skin fish , I chose guinea fowl (it was stiff like yesterday's reheated chicken). The tasting menu is offered with wine paring ($56) , i asked the waiter what are the wines & she could not recite it from memory, but said that there were 4 glasses of 3 oz each, one of them was a sweet wine & one orange. That sealed a d decion for me not to take parings. We decided to just order wine by glass, although they have quite an extensive wine list. There is only 1 white, 1 red, 1 rose, & 1 bubbly on the list by glass. For dessert, i took cheese (way too salty). I probably should have chosen the sweets. The only dish I really enjoyed was the Brussel sprouts appetizer. On the positive note, all the waiters & chefs were SUPER nice, friendly & accommodating. Not sure i will be back soon. Either I need a more predictable menu choices at the time of booking a few days in advance or more choice besides the tasting menu. Last point ... although set in historical building, the cieling in dining room is low, with full attendance it is hard to hear people even across the table & the noise is amplified by low cieling & close proximity of other diners.

Spectacular food, outstanding hospitality. Living in Amsterdam, we're quite used with great food. Candide was beyond our expectations & definitely one place to remember & return to! Thank you all for your warmth & professionalism. A++
