About

Café Van Houtte operates as a central hub for artisanal coffee culture, focusing on expertly roasted beans sourced through sustainable trade practices. The menu centers on a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches made with crusty artisanal breads, premium deli meats, and crisp seasonal vegetables. A diverse selection of pastries, including buttery croissants and rich muffins, serves as a standard accompaniment to the extensive beverage program. The interior design emphasizes a streamlined, industrial aesthetic that prioritizes functional seating for those requiring a dedicated workspace or a quick pause. Patrons select from a robust lineup of specialty lattes, robust espressos, and refreshing cold brews tailored to distinct flavour profiles. Each location maintains rigorous standards for ingredient freshness to ensure consistent quality across all handheld offerings and baked goods provided daily.

Review Summary

Café Van Houtte is frequently praised for its consistently fresh coffee, delicious food options like the pistachio croissant, and efficient service that makes it a convenient stop for commuters. Many customers appreciate the clean environment and the friendly, professional nature of the staff, who often maintain a welcoming atmosphere even during busy periods or near closing time. While most experiences are positive and highlight the quality of drinks such as the iced matcha latte, a few visitors have noted inconsistencies regarding language preferences and staff attitude, yet the general consensus points to a reliable and pleasant spot for a quick break.

Usually, I'm a bit concerned about cafes/restaurants inside metro stations in terms of cleanliness & service. However, I've come here several times for the last few months & I've been impressed, now its my quick stop to grab a drink before studying at the Grande Biblioteque. My go-to is their iced matcha latte with vanilla syrup. The drink is not too sweet & not overloaded with ice, which I appreciate a lot (given I drink them quite fast) compared to other Japanese matcha cafes. The lines move pretty fast & the staff are approachable & professional. The cafe is well maintained & clean. Nice cafe!
