Café Saint-Henri at Jean-Talon Market on a Sunday morning is a great spot - with one caveat.
The matcha latte missed the mark for me. If matcha is your order, you may want to look elsewhere. Stick to the coffee - that's clearly where their strength lies.
What saved the visit & then some were the sweets. The pistachio croissant was loaded with puréed pistachio - generous, indulgent, exactly what you want alongside a morning coffee. The chocolate chunk cookie was equally decadent. The kind of baked goods you find yourself thinking about on the way home.
The ambiance is charming & the setting at Jean-Talon is perfect for a slow Sunday morning. & the detail of coffees being handed through the window? A small thing that adds a lot of character to the experience.
Worth a visit - just order the coffee & load up on the pastries.

Extremely packed on weekends. Coffee was fine but not great. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, especially with table service. They could use some more help.
I love Cafe St. Henri's coffee, & try to support local businesses. But if I pay $5 dollar for a filter coffee with tip, how is it reasonable that I am not allowed to pour my own milk into the coffee? It's a very individual thing & shouldn't be up to a barista to slosh in a random amount of milk. This isn't Tim Hortons; I would like to pour my own milk, the quantity I desire. Also: no bathroom! What!
Good but expensive coffee. They dont have bathrooms though so be warned :
The baristas here are super friendly & welcoming. Great coffee & atmosphere as well. One suggestion would be to have larger tables, but everything else is great.
Un excellent café ! Le staff est disponible, doux & accueillant. Le parfait coffee break de Jean Talon Market.
Nice coffee shop next to Jean-Talon Market, really cute atmosphere & building, the iced lattes are great!
Great coffee, almost the best around the block. The only disadvantage, no washroom in the shop itself other than that great place with friendly customer service 👍
Good coffee & pastries. Pleasant staff. Good place to buy coffee beans - fair trade, transparent sourcing. Cafe vibe: indoors, a bit neutral; sidewalk is better, taking in the market comings & goings.
Our coffees were good & I appreciated the macadamia milk but the attitude of the staff was not good. As a experience I didn't like it
A small gesture of delivering a coffee order might seem unnoticed, but certainly not for parents with baby, toddler & small children. Gabrielle the barista was on his own, handling the operation & still attentively performed his work.
The coffee is great but the service is very slow & this is an expensive shop
Stopped for a coffee during our visit to the market, was busy when we were there, ordered our drinks, they took a while to come but in the meantime we got a space to sit down. The lattes were good, would recommend stopping here for coffee.
I stopped by here to get some iced coffee & cool off. To my surprise, they were selling some geish coffee beans for a limited time.
The coffee was also delicious & would love to try out more items from
Their menu if I get a chance to go back!
Great advice from the staff on bean selection & top quality service.
Highly recommend, they also give you a complimentary coffee when you buy beans which is above & beyond (to be honest I wish more roasters did that).
I came here just to check the team attitude after reading bad comments about that. To be honest they were really friendly smiling to everyone.
The coffee was great & the atmosphere feels like the authentic coffee shop of Marché Jean-Talon
It was a good experience!
Cheers
Yes, your coffee is pretty good. Yes, your location is fantastic.
Do clients deserve such attitude & poor service? Nope.
The outdoor counter is chaotic too.
I will take my coffee elsewhere, like Dante. Italians are more pleasant & less hipsterish.
