This coffee shop specializes in onigiri, & the atmosphere is definitely a strong point. It's stylish, cozy, & well thought out - the coin-covered floor is a standout detail & very cool.
As for the food, it's average. For the same price, you can find onigiri at a kiosk near McGill that may not have the same hype or aesthetic, but offers more flavor & much more generous fillings.
I tried three onigiri: breaded chicken, egg, & tuna with mayonnaise. The breaded chicken was my favorite, followed by the tuna. The egg one came last for me.
I'd recommend trying it at least once, especially if you appreciate a nice atmosphere. That said, I wouldn't go back on my own, as flavor matters more to me than a cool setting.
We had an onigiri craving (again) & followed it straight here, & honestly? Zero regrets. The place is wonderfully cozy. The menu is packed with creative flavors, & the ones we tried - spicy tuna & sun-dried tomato - were genuinely excellent: super fresh, well-balanced, & dangerously easy to inhale.
Bonus points for the Valentine's Day chaos: they're shaping the onigiri like little hearts until then. Yes, it's corny. Yes, it's adorable. & yes, we are absolutely here for it. I paired mine with a hojicha latte, which was smooth, comforting, & quietly doing its job very well.
Also worth mentioning: the pennies embedded in the floor, which is such a fun, quirky detail.
All in all, carbs can be cute, cozy, & emotionally supportive. We'll be back. Probably soon. 🍙💛
Casually walked in for an evening snack. Tried the grilled salmon & the tuna-mayo onigiri. Had a lovely experience.
Definitely gonna visit again & try the rest.
The Tuna & mayo onigiris were nice. The salmon onigiris were also delicious. The staff were nice & gave good advice. without me asking, one of them adviced me to warm my onigiri balls in the microwave if I was going to eat it the next day.
We tried 4 different onigiris: tuna, ajitama, ume & yuzu mentaiko. The hojicha latte & miso soup were delicious too.
Really cozy & quiet spot near the bustling St. Laurent Ave. I got a hojicha latte, which is one of the best ones I've had - highly recommend it! I also tried the tuna onigiri, which was a bit too much mayo for my taste, but still very tasty. Everything is decently priced & I look forward to trying the other onigiris next time.
The Staff is very sweet & bring a lot of good vibes to this café ☺️. The décor was very interesting with a lot of hidden details! The tea was really good as well & we really recommend the Tuna Mayo onigiris! We were just visiting Montreal but if we came back we would love to drop by this café again.✨
I came here today just as they were opening with a few friends to try a couple of their items. We ended up getting the tuna & salmon onigiri. Both were great & we even had a pleasant chat with the lady working there, who was excited to share a bit about her hometown in Japan. The place seems to be family run & I was so happy to see how everyone was involved in the care of the restaurant. This is the kind of place that makes Montreal so great! Will definitely be coming back to try other things.
Had their tuna mayo onigiri, very good! Looking to try their grilled salmon & karaage next time!
The onigiri that i choose was the tuna mayo & it's good. When you dine in, they will serve the onigiri open, then you need to fold it by yourself. It's an interesting experience before you eat. They also has miso soup, which is good, coffee, & matcha hojicha latte. The place atmosphere is cozy & good to relax & hang out
Pas accessible en fauteuil roulant : deux grosses marches à l'entrée & porte étroite. Personnel non accueillant : on rentre & on ne sait pas si on doit attendre ou s'asseoir. Super ordinaire : on a pris tuna mayo, ajitama (oeuf mariné) & Karaa-age.
This place was ultra cute & the folks working here were so nice. The woman putting together the orders was very sweet & took the time to explain the flavors to the people in front of us in line. We got the tuna, salmon, & karage ones & they were great. The rice was perfectly paired with the Hojicha latte. All in all delicious. We got one mystery flavor: It was delicious!!! We will definitely be back!
