Only giving this restaurant 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option.
We were three girls going out for dinner & were really excited to try this new location. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed by the way we were treated from the moment we arrived.
We made our reservation four weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were told that we had never'confirmed' our reservation & that they had supposedly tried calling us multiple times but couldn't get through. This was completely untrue. We never received any calls, & we had proof that our reservation had been confirmed.
When we showed the host at the front our confirmation, his response was simply,'Okay, I'll see what I can do for you.' We were then seated at the smallest table possible, practically next to the kitchen, despite having a reservation.
When our food arrived, the waiter didn't even know where to put the plates because the table was so small. He ended up placing our food on the empty table beside us & moving it closer to our table. The only person who genuinely seemed to'take care' of us that night was the busboy.
Things became even more uncomfortable when the owner, the host, & our waitress noticed that we had an extra table beside us. We overheard them talking, & it was very obvious that they were discussing our table & situation. What made it worse was that the owner served every single table around us except ours. We felt completely ignored & singled out throughout the entire evening.
Then came the bill. I paid in cash & left a 20% tip. When the waitress took my money, she counted it with the host at the front, right in front of us, & I overheard the host say,'They didn't tip you.' I didn't say anything at the time, but I absolutely should have, because I had in fact left a 20% tip.
Finally, as the three of us were leaving, both the owner & the host were standing at the front & sarcastically yelled,'BYE & THANK YOU!' It was loud enough for everyone to hear & felt completely unnecessary & disrespectful.
Overall, we felt unwelcome, ignored, & disrespected for the entire evening. We came in excited to support a new location, but this experience was completely unacceptable. The way we were treated was especially disappointing, & unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning.
My family & I came for lunch, a group of 8 with kids, & didn't have a reservation but they seated us quickly. The restaurant is beautiful & all the staff are so welcoming. The food was delicious!! A bit on the pricey side but everything was good quality & flavourful. The pasta bolognese is a real highlight, & this is coming from an Italian family who make that all the time! They also have pasta as sides which is a great value for kids. The menu is extensive so there's a lot & something for everyone. The service was excellent- they were always friendly, efficient & never forgot anything. We will definitely be back.

Café Gentile DDO was fantastic. The food was impeccable, the service attentive, the decor, music, & vibe made the whole experience feel special. Owner Anthony also came by our table to bring us the coffees & welcomed us…such a nice touch.
We'll definitely be back.
Good food, if quite overpriced. The atmosphere is good, but can be quite noisy. Service is top-notch. However, our coffees arrived long before the associated dessert. Parking is limited. Further, if the manager is reading this, there is a large glass window near the entrance to the café side. I was waiting & in the 15 minutes or so that I was standing there, two people tried to walk through that glass window thinking it was an opening. They both crashed quite violently into the glass - this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I would suggest a decal or something to alert people to the presence of the glass.
I wanted to love this place but it's just okay. The first time I went I booked a month in advance only to be told when I got there that due to an event we only had 1.5 hours at table which wasn't indicated on the initial reservation. I had to discuss it with the manager which was kinda of embarrassing to get an alternate table but we were now provided one with 3 people squished on a tiny table. The pizza I ordered & dessert were very very good. Second time, my mushroom pasta was delicious but I tasted my friends Alfredo type pasta dish & it was horrible. The Aperol spritz I ordered was basically water & cost 18$. When asking for substitutions none of us were informed of additional charges. Unfortunately the tipping options only started at 18% not sure if that's legal but I think that's a little excessive especially considering our waiter looked like he was sleep walking. I tipped anyways because I know it goes to others besides the server.
I had the most amazing dining experience of my lifeat fairly new restaurant in the west island of Montreal. The menu is incredible the food itself is even better. The service exceptional in every which way you could imagine. The entire staff is beyond knowledgeable about their surroundings & cuisine. If traveling to or live in Montreal do not miss this opportunity you will be overwhelmed at the ambience as well as dietary excellence . Of this establishment. TREAT YOURSELF.
One of the worst food for brunch I've had in a while unfortunately. The cacio e pepe sandwich had cold mortadella, & the rest of it was room temp. The French toast was so dense & dry it was inedible. The pancakes were the same, but the orange zest cream really helps. Don't get any of those or the breakfast potatoes. Those lacked flavor. Food was extremely disappointing. Atmosphere & service however is good. Beautiful restaurant. Kind staff.
Had such a great experience at this new café in the West! I came with a friend & we had such a lovely time. The drinks were delicious, the food was really good, & the atmosphere was welcoming & cozy. It's definitely a great spot to relax, catch up with a friend, & enjoy some good food & drinks. I'm so glad we found this place & I'll definitely be coming back! ❤?🍸🍽?
We had dinner at Cafe Gentile DDO on Saturday night & it was a wonderful evening. Being Italian, my wife is pretty hard to please when it comes to Italian restaurants - but this was the first restaurant we found with truly authentic, & it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was so much fun, the food was delicious, & the service was great throughout. A special shoutout to Sofia - she was kind, sweet, & nice, & made us feel so welcome. We'll definitely be back!
