Had lunch on August 17th 2026, DDO location. very nice location, there is a covered terrace but we ate inside. The restaurant has great natural lighting & atmosphere is nice. tables not set too close together. This being said, the reason i gave 3 stars is because of pricing. I had a sandwith & a coffee. with normal tip & tax. 27,50$. i mean it was a sandwich. a small sandwich. chicken breast, with SOME avocado & sun dried tomatoes. 18$. with NOTHING else in the plate. everything is extra. for 18$ i found it was poor value for the money. i do not think some fries-coleslaw or other little plus to dress the plate would cost them much. i mean there was a sandwich in the plate. that's it. don't even think it was 6 inches long. then a coffee... at 27,50$.. don't think i will be returning. unfortunately.
I booked a table for 5 adults at cafe gentile DDO for a birthday celebration. I have rarely - if ever - had such poor service. Our reservation was at 19:45 & it wrapped up at 10:27 due to terrible customer service, resulting in food delay. Earlier that day, they called me to confirm it was for a birthday, then a second to let me know there would be a cake cutting fee (we confirmed that we would be buying the menus dessert)
The waiter, who doubled as shift manager, never came to check in, never asked if things were ok, etc. We had to request the dessert menu ourselves & the dessert process alone (dropping off menu, taking order, & receiving dessert) took well over 40 minutes. We had to request more water at every turn, & he left without as much as a thank you for coming or goodbye. All food was dropped off by runners without a single peep or subsequent check in.
There was a complete lack of hospitality & care. Cherry on top? Tip recommendations start at outrageous amounts
I understand that people can have bad days. However, when you go to a restaurant such as Cafe Gentile where customers spend over $175 for a meal experience, I expect at minimum a decent service. If you're also going to call me twice for birthday details, at least have the decency to wish the table/person a happy birthday.
I'm incredibly disappointed & do not plan on coming back anytime soon.
My wife & I walked into Café Gentile DDO expecting it to be a simple coffee shop, & we were genuinely surprised by what we found.
The beautiful ambience immediately caught our attention-it's warm, stylish, & incredibly inviting. The food was excellent, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, & genuinely friendly.
What was supposed to be a casual coffee stop turned into one of those unexpected little discoveries that makes your day. We walked in with no expectations & left thoroughly impressed.
Great food, beautiful atmosphere, & outstanding service. Café Gentile DDO was a wonderful surprise, & we'll definitely be back.
Café Gentile DDO was fantastic. The food was impeccable, the service attentive, the decor, music, & vibe made the whole experience feel special. Owner Anthony also came by our table to bring us the coffees & welcomed us…such a nice touch.
We'll definitely be back.
We had dinner at Cafe Gentile DDO on Saturday night & it was a wonderful evening. Being Italian, my wife is pretty hard to please when it comes to Italian restaurants - but this was the first restaurant we found with truly authentic, & it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was so much fun, the food was delicious, & the service was great throughout. A special shoutout to Sofia - she was kind, sweet, & nice, & made us feel so welcome. We'll definitely be back!
We recently held our high school reunion at Cafe Gentile DDO. Tanya was incredibly accommodating & made the planning process easy, even with our changing guest count. Food was excellent, the service was outstanding, & the entire evening ran smoothly. A big thank-you to Tanya & the whole team for helping make our reunion such a memorable night. Highly recommend!
Cafe Gentile DDO is a perfect storm of everything that goes right at a restaurant. From the fresh food to the impeccable service to their amazing bar, every point was checked off for me. A very welcome addition to the West Island. This restaurant will be a gold mine.
First visit to the DDO location & it did not disappoint. I've been to Westmount & Chabanel many times, & this one absolutely lives up to the standard.
Beautiful decor & a great vibe right when you walk in.
We had a great dinner with fabulous, friendly service from start to finish. The Caesar salad was fresh & really tasty, & the artichoke appetizer was absolutely delicious.
The Charred Up pizza with fresh mutz, parlour's sauce, dry cured house pepperoni, & Calabrian chilli flakes was perfect. Also had a great arrabbiata margarita.
Going to Gentile DDO really is an experience. Stunning place from inside out. Incredible atmosphere & a great staff. Coffee is one of the best in the West Island & the food is fresh & on point. Must try spot that brings a new vibe to Montreal.
