Great coffee & hot chocolate & theyre playing the original star trek on TV! 😆
Not Friendly & Bad Coffee:
The'tall, young' Barista did not know how to make a proper Flat White (must be made with proper ratio of espresso to microfoam) & instead mainly like a cup of'warm milk.' Perhaps because he was too focused on chatting it up with his colleague on the topic of hockey stats (no issues with that, so long as you can also focus & make a proper coffee for the customer).
The'older' fellow who took the order at the cash was rude & presented a classic'arrogant vibe.' No'good morning' or a even hello to the customer?
Quite rare to experience both arrogant & unhospitable attitude...& bad coffee but they nailesd it!
The best coffee in Monkland Village, no contest. & open from 7 in the morning!
Nice little italian coffeeshop. Good espresso. Good side snack: croissants, cookies.
Food & coffee good even though a bit overpriced, but the place is a bit dirty They are not really friendly & they keep air conditioning literally shooting on the head of customers. I got sick!!!!! Not recommended
Great casual terrace to enjoy your coffee outdoors. Sit & chat for as long as you like. Some people had their dogs. I had a single shot latte which was good, but I'd probably go for a double shot next time. They have some croissants & cookies but I didn't see any food.
Looking for the perfect espresso in Montreal? Café de' Mercanti on Monkland Ave is a true gem that brings a slice of Italy right to NDG! 🇮🇹☕?
From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee hits you, & you know you're in for something special. Their espresso is hands-down one of the best in the city-rich, smooth, & authentically Italian, just like in Rome. Whether you're a coffee purist or love a creamy cappuccino, you'll find your new favorite here.
The vibe is cozy & welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. There's plenty of seating inside & a cute garden terrace for sunny days-perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a book. Don't miss their pastries & fresh cannoli, piped to order & absolutely delicious.
Café de' Mercanti is more than just a coffee shop-it's a neighborhood hub with a real community feel. If you're in NDG, do yourself a favor & stop by for a true Italian coffee experience. Highly recommended!
Love this place. The coffee is amazing & the staff is the same. It does get busy but the line moves fast & it's worth the short wait. Pastries & snacks are all delicious.
such a cute & cozy spot! coffee was great & service was friendly & quick! lots of spots to sit & a great social atmosphere! great location as well.
This place feels like my own little secret café-like I discovered it myself. But truth is, they've been around for 13 years.
Came in to meet a friend. First time here. The vibes? Chill, unpretentious, & welcoming. Feels like a cozy living room or your best friend's kitchen.
You're greeted by the rich aroma of fresh-ground coffee, the soft murmur of conversation, & a counter full of homemade cookies & pastries-some familiar, all tempting.
Prices are fair for a personalized experience. $3 for an Earl Grey tea with steamed milk, served in a glass if you're staying in. $4 for a smooth Americano.
Behind the espresso machine, a cool-looking gent with salt-&-pepper hair. At the counter, a friendly woman who welcomed me when she heard it was my first visit.
The decor? Purposefully unfinished-or maybe just always evolving. My wife asked if it was under construction. I said, Yes, like our busy lives-always in progress.
Long story short, it's now on my go-to list-for coffee, good company, or just sitting alone, writing Google reviews.
Service was quite fast
Ordered a cappuccino & donut. Tastes all good, would have preferred coffee & food to be hotter but the ambiance was quite cute & cozy for a neighborhood coffee place. No wifi so ideal if you want to be somewhere to disconnect. All in all will return
