Review Summary

Café Cosé is widely celebrated as a top destination in Montreal for high quality matcha and coffee, particularly for its unique Vietnamese inspired menu and creative specialty drinks like the sea salt earl grey and banana matcha. Visitors frequently praise the cozy, modern atmosphere and the welcoming, attentive staff who contribute to a strong sense of community. While the space can become quite crowded on weekends and seating is often limited, the consistently high quality of the beverages and the friendly service keep patrons returning regularly. Although a few reviewers noted occasional long wait times or inconsistencies in drink sweetness, the overall consensus is that the cafe provides an intentional, high quality experience that stands out in the local scene.

My favorite speciality coffee in Montreal. Get the Iced Cafe Cose

This is the spot to grab coffee in PSC. The coffee is amazing & not overly bitter like a lot of third-wave coffee shops. The matcha is also the best I've tried in the city.

The staff are always super friendly, & the owner is often around too. They also host a run club every Saturday at 9 a.m.

What really makes this place special is the community. You can come here to grab a coffee, hang out, meet people, & feel welcome. It's become my go-to spot for espresso, cortados, iced americanos, & matcha.

They also have specialty drinks like Vietnamese coffee & sweet matcha options. Everything I've tried has been really good & definitely hits the spot when you want something sweeter.

Very diluted sweet watery drink. I think the barista need some training on Vietnamese iced coffee. The ratio was way too off.

Missed opportunity on the coconut coffee. Instead of espresso, why not just use Vietnamese coffee?
Easy recipe:

Ingredients & Specs
Coffee: 20g (Fine-to-medium grind)
Condensed Milk: 25g
Water: 70g total @ 92°C-93°C
Ice: 100g (in a separate serving cup)

The Method
Prep the Base: Add 25g of condensed milk directly to the bottom of your brewing glass or cup.
Set the Bed: Add 20g of ground coffee into the Phin chamber, give it a gentle shake to level the bed, & lower the filter insert to press down lightly.
The Bloom: Pour in 30g of your 92°C-93°C water. Let it saturate & expand for 45 seconds. This releases trapped gases & prevents channeling.
The Main Pour: Pour the remaining 40g of water. Place the lid on top & let it drip completely through.
Incorporate & Serve: Give the warm coffee & condensed milk a thorough stir until completely smooth, then pour the velvety mixture over your 100g of ice.

So cozy, the coffee is really strong so will definitely satisfy your coffee cravings. Nice roasted flavour with the aftertaste. I wanted to try their matcha as I've heard great things about it & it was great! It is flavourful & naturally sweet.

I like the area the most, it's very quiet & plenty of street parking. Customer service was great too & I overall loved the calm & quiet atmosphere. Light music was played too which was perfect.

I went again & got a vanilla latte & earl gray latte & they were both too sweet, the syrup overpowered the coffee flavour. The banana bread latte was better & I would recommend if you want a sweet drink that still tastes like coffee, though it's not my personal taste but at least it was good.

Literally crashing out because I got an iced matcha (given I liked it the last time) & it was literally a white color with a hint of light green.

I came here on a boiling humid day in Montreal, but got recommended this place by a friend.

As a Viet, this is more Viet meets Modernism but with a tasty twist! There are some Viet flavours on the menu like the Coffee with Condensed Milk, Coconut, & Bananas. I ordered mine for'to here' of an Iced Banana Matcha Latte with a Chocolatine for roughly $13 CAD with taxes. Prices are average like your other coffee shops in Montreal.

For the ambience, it's pretty cute, modern condo-style, & chic (beige, white, brown), but with limited seating spots. No plugs (I think or it's limited) but there is WiFi, you just have to ask for the guest password.

Service wise, it may be slow, so please be patient when ordering & waiting. When I came close to 19h, there was only one nice barista serving & ordering for everyone. He was nice! Luckily I didn't have to wait too long for my order (around 5 mins), but I'm sure on other days might be chaotic.

Flavour wise, the Iced Banana Matcha Latte is pretty good, not too sweet. I personally liked it as I was able to taste the Bananas. Chocolatine was $4 & flakey & less chocolate.

It's a cute spot, roughly 10-15 mins away from Charlevoix metro. I do recommend coming here with friends or want a quick refresher, but beware of the last g wait & crowd!

I tried their iced oat milk latte which is a bit strong but I love it that way. Their croissants are also good & the barista was sweet. 10/10 would come again
