Overall, Café Cherrier emerges as a Montreal institution that consistently delivers classic French bistro fare with generous portions, a warm Parisian vibe, and attentive service. The menu is praised for reliable staples like onion soup, gravlax, onglet de boeuf, gigot d'agneau, ris de veau, and steak tartare, with brunch and desserts such as eggs Benedict and tarte tatin earning frequent compliments, and the terrace is often highlighted as a superb setting for al fresco meals. Prices are considered reasonable for the quality by many, though a few reviews note that they have risen and some call portions or value not ideal at times. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and professional, with staff remembered for their attentiveness, yet some experiences mention slower pacing or occasional missteps in busy rooms or in wine recommendations. The atmosphere is described as convivial, intimate, and often lively, sometimes noisy, but with a consistent level of comfort and charm that keeps diners returning. Taken together, the reviews suggest a dependable, well loved bistro that balances tradition and quality, with room for improvement in noise control and consistency.
After an initial long wait after being seated, the service, food & atmosphere were above average. Would give 5 stars overall, but the hostess/waitress was a bit pretentious. Besides the human factor, the food & atmosphere was very good. Reminds me of restaurants in France (Bordeaux/Aquitaine Region). Planning to go back before we leave this week.
Lovely restaurant with delicious brunch options & amazing service. Pretty patio seating, but for summer visits, I'm going to opt for the air conditioned room just off the front lobby.

The French feeling atmosphere traditional cuisine, we ordered delicious duck salad if I not mistaken at the time they had chickenliver over rice, French onion soup. amazing Crème brûlée, savory crepes with super fresh fruits. Grapefruit juice. It's one of the best places I've been. If you come to Montreal, that's a stop you need to do.
Delicious French food in a quaint setting! Our waitress was efficient, personable, & helpful with our decisions about which dishes to offer. Definitely recommend!

It's a lovely spot & the food is great. The staff was friendly & helpful. We've been there three times now, always sitting on the covered terrace. It's a consistent winner as a place to meet with friends & relax over good food in a pleasant atmosphere.
