Review Summary

Cadence Café is widely recognized as a beautifully designed and aesthetically pleasing destination in Chinatown, often praised for its relaxing atmosphere, quality vinyl music, and Japanese-inspired interior. Many visitors enjoy the high-quality matcha, hojicha, and popular items like the shiopan and roll cakes, though opinions on food and drink consistency vary among patrons. While several guests find the service friendly, efficient, and welcoming, others have reported inconsistencies, including slower wait times, forgotten orders, and a perceived lack of warmth from the staff during busy periods. Despite mixed feedback regarding pricing and service speed, the cafe remains a popular spot for those looking to enjoy a slow-living experience or capture trendy photographs in a stylish environment.

A new café that just opened in Chinatown, right next to Metro Place-d'Armes. The interior is a lovely blend of contemporary minimalism with a retro-industrial twist.

The drinks menu focuses on coffee & Japanese teas, alongside Japanese pastries like salt breads, sweet rolls, & cake rolls. We ordered the latte, hojicha latte, & the flan pudding. The drinks were refreshing, though the hojicha latte could have been a touch richer & creamier.

A nice addition to the area - a good spot to catch up with friends, study, or get some work done.

Quel beau café ! Leur flan était vraiment bon. Je me suis sentis comme dans un kissaten ??? au Japon avec leur déco rétro. Une belle adresse !

Very beautiful decor, but unfortunately, that's it. To say the staff was unfriendly wouldn't be fair, because they greeted us with smiles. But it still felt like there was a lack of professionalism with the service. Ex. The water tank was completely empty so I asked for water. They didn't apologize about the empty tank, & just took the glasses from me & poured tap water in. I don't even know if they tried filling up the tank after either. The food in the display cabinet looked pretty wilted even though it was only 10:40 am, & the shiopan was weirdly very salty. The bun was warm, but the ham cheese filling was cold? Finally, the side tables were also uncomfortable to sit at, because the table feet are right where your feet are positioned. So there was no flat surface I could put my feet on. It's a shame, because a nice cafe in the area would have really brighten up Chinatown.

Went for Solo Cafe spot. Refreshing Matcha Tonic Yuzu with the Egg Salad Shiopan.

The store also have more food options & dessert, definitely comeback for the Flan 🍮

This place is proof that social media influencers should hpdl no weight when considering the quality of a cafe.

The drinks & food here are severely overpriced for what you get. Everything is awfully basic & average: cake roll - 7$, small flan - 6$, the tiniest matcha - 6.5$ (see picture).

Honestly, I didn't tip because we were taking to go, but the demeanor of the barista immediately changed after so. Seriously off-putting.

Lastly, the cafe is just your average cafe. Perhaps the service & overpriced stuff we got just ruined this for us at this point. I've been to Japan, & nothing of this brings me to experience anything from Japan.

I do not recommend this place. Don't waste your time & money to receive bad service here.
