Buvette Chez Simone operates as a classic bistro focused on the art of traditional charcuterie and carefully curated small plates. The interior space reflects a functional design intended to highlight the quality of cured meats, terrines, and artisanal cheeses served on wooden boards. Guests encounter an environment centered on straightforward culinary preparation where raw ingredients remain the primary focus of every dish presented. The menu emphasizes consistent flavor profiles through seasonal accompaniments like pickled vegetables, crusty baguette slices, and savory spreads. Every selection demonstrates a dedication to authentic French techniques that prioritize substance over unnecessary kitchen complexity. This establishment maintains a disciplined approach to the preparation of cured goods while providing a balanced selection of beverages designed to complement the salt-forward nature of the featured food items.

Buvette Chez Simone is widely celebrated as a standout destination in Montreal, appreciated for its inviting atmosphere, exceptional wine selection, and high-quality food. Many visitors highlight the expertise of the staff in offering personalized wine pairings and note the consistent warmth and professionalism of the service team. Standout menu items such as the roast chicken, gnocchi, and various charcuterie boards frequently earn praise for their flavor and preparation. While some guests find the setting to be quite lively or the portions modest relative to the price, the overall consensus is that the restaurant offers a cozy, stylish, and memorable experience that remains a favorite for both casual outings and special occasions.
Food & wine are pretty decent, atmosphere is great. What's absolutely terrible is the service & wait times. 20 mins for 2 fritters & roasted morel mushrooms on hummus, plus another 30 mins afterwards for salad & fish - all tapas-style dishes (I guess they're hoping you can down a few more drinks while waiting, which I find is a very aggressive sales tactic).
The gentlemen who I believe is the manager is cool but he can't run the entire show by himself. One of the staff members is by far the bad apple in the place. Expect to feel unwelcomed & to be treated with a very cold approach from her. It's def not an isolated situation as we've been there multiple times in the past couple years & it's been the same. We just lost our patience this time when she told us'it happens' & walked away, while we were trying to express our concern regarding the wait time for our food order.
To the manager's credit, he did offer sincere apologies & invited us back for a better experience the next time.
This is definitely the place to be if you're in the Mile End neighborhood. There is a comprehensive wine list & the staff is very focused on you finding the wine you like. I would definitely give an extra star for service. In addition, there is great food to accompany the wine. I would highly recommend the cod fritters!
The crowd inside is diverse & friendly. A great place to spend an evening!
Stunning! Fabulous experience. We let our server pick 4 bottles of wine & enough food for 10 people. The pacing was perfect, food was balanced, & service was impeccable. No notes!
Spectacular! We were looking for another place & thank God we couldn't find it...Chez Simone was soooo cozy & inviting, the food was insanely good & loved the ambiance. The Greek Salad with that creamy feta was to die for. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy & flavorful. Definitely going back!
