We had a wonderful experience at Burger Bar. Even though it's known for its burgers, I ordered the baked macaroni & cheese with a rich five-cheese sauce. It was incredibly cheesy, comforting, & the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. My daughter ordered a burger & said it was juicy, flavourful, & cooked just right.
For dessert, I had the homemade apple crumble served warm with vanilla ice cream & salted caramel. It tasted more like a warm slice of apple pie than a traditional crumble, but it was absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered the ice cream sundae, & it was huge! It reminded us of the old-fashioned sundaes you used to get at classic ice cream parlours.
What really stood out was the customer service. It was raining when we visited, & because I'm wearing a leg brace, the staff kindly helped me down the stairs to make sure I didn't slip. That level of care & kindness made a lasting impression.
Great food, generous portions, delicious desserts, & exceptional service. We would definitely return & highly recommend Burger Bar!
This is one of my favourite spots in Montreal, the food is always top notch. Get the chicken wings, the buffalo mac & cheese, & any burger; they all hit. Highly recommend.
I'm not exaggerating when I say it's when of the best burgers (Leonard Cohen - wagyu) I've ever had. The perfectly cooked beef alone carries it flavor wise, but a generous slab of cheese, an over-easy egg, & some arugula combined to enhance the finished product. I had leafy greens but you can order poutine as the side. The best thing about them is the extensive menu options: standard, smash, bison, & wagyu, all with interesting & premium topping options. The dining space is pleasant too & the staff was attentive (though not busy while I was there). Easy recommended for a gourmet burger experience.

Burgers we saw on other tables looked amazing, but we only tried the mac & cheese & the Caesar salad, & both were very good.

Normally I'm not someone to write reviews but my experience here was so bad it ended up partially ruining my monthly date night with my boyfriend, Wednesday the 27th March around 7-9 Pm.
While the food was mediocre, & there was many loud clanking noises from behind the bar, & the spacing of the tables was very cramped- my biggest issue was with the service received from our server Xena(I believe that was her name).
To start things off my boyfriend ordered a Buffalo Mac & cheese while I ordered a Buffalo Mac & cheese requesting the buffalo sauce be swapped for pesto, the fried cheese curds, & two milkshakes. We each took our turns ordering & there should have been no confusion with the order.
The waitress returns to our table with our cheese curds & let's us know that she made mistake & Input the wrong item so the kitchen had instead prepared a Buffalo poutine with my pesto modification & asks if we'd like it free of charge. Seeing as it was just a small mistake at the time, we accepted & agreed to wait until the rest of our food was made (pesto on Buffalo poutine was not the most palatable, but mistakes happen).
Fast forward a bit, & she arrives with one Mac & cheese & states it's the buffalo mac. We're missing one macaroni dish & just assume it's been delayed because of the poutine mishap. So we wait, & we wait, & we wait until she comes to check up on us & I ask her how long the second macaroni & cheese is going to be. Turns out she misunderstood our order & thought there was only one that we would share, even though my boyfriend & I were pretty clear.
We also ask when we will get our shakes, & she says they should be out soon. At this point it's been 40+ minutes since we initially ordered everything, two milkshakes do not take 40+ minutes on a relatively non busy night & arrive after everything else- & I'm convinced she forgot to input that as well. She also cleared away the poutine plate & took my boyfriend's fork with it.
We get our milkshakes not long after, & as the first Mac & cheese goes cold & dies we wait for my pasta. We get the pasta eventually & my boyfriend has to ask for another fork.
Another fork that she says she'll bring & then walks away, & surprise she never brings it. We watch her wander around right after saying she'll be right back with it too. We eventually ask another waiter & he immediately brings one in under 20 seconds.
We finished eating, but since on of our food has since gone cold. The night sort of feels ruined, our appetite is gone so we ask for our stuff to go & leave after paying.
I understand mistakes happen, the issue that it was one mistake after another in order & ultimately ruined our experience, which is ultimately a shame as my boyfriend has been here before & had not encountered these issues so I suppose it was just our luck with the server.

I see the owner has responded to this review, & respectfully, if you have difficulty understanding something as simple as'Can I replace this sauce for this other sauce' after your customers take turns ordering, perhaps you should not be in food service.
I'm sure most other people have the ability comprehend'can I have x instead of y'. I also am sure that most people also understand that when one person says'I'll have this item' & the next person says'I will actually have one of those too' it means they EACH want one.'I know I can't understand what you ordered' goes crazy. It's actually kind of funny because it not only makes me doubt your customer service skills, but also your intelligence. But I digress, not everyone is capable of basic comprehension & I suppose I should be more tolerant of the mentally ungifted.
Additionally, trust me, Olivia Rodrigo playing did not make your place busy lol. I have eyes.
'Jokes' aside, what a sneaky little way of offloading responsibility onto the customer instead of taking accountability for what was simply just bad service.
Incredible food quality. I was with a party of four. We all loved our dishes. The quality of the burgers! I had the Quebecois. Delicious. The fries are outstanding. We shared the mac & cheese! Probably the best dish you would ever have!
I had consistently good experiences at this restaurant from 2019 to 2024, & it was one of my favorite places, especially because of their vegetarian options. I've always recommended it to friends & family visiting Montreal.
However, during my visit last Friday, the experience was disappointing. The veggie burgers were overly sour & salty, & the mac & cheese was very dry. While I don't mind the pricing, taste & quality are equally important.
This visit was a letdown compared to my past experiences, & it has made me reconsider whether I will return in the future. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously & improves the food quality.
The food & atmosphere was amazing our server was also very kind we got the roadhouse & the pesto mac & cheese & both were delicious! The milkshakes are really good & amazing quality for the low price, highly reccomend this restaurant to everyone!
