The fries were soft & they too had a sweet note which ultimately combined with the batter was too much sugar taste in a main course. The tartare sauce was very nice. We both had the haddock & fries & wished there was some contrast between all the mushy textures.
Just the perfectly fried fish n' chips you'd expect. Super texture to the cod & a nutty, crisp texture for the batter. Generous helping of fries. Cherry ale to wash down. Buzzer for order, bus your tray. Youthful staff & diverse patrons. Grateful for the choice among the elegant "high-rise" restaurants around it on McGill.
Sadly, not a taste of home. For some reason the fish batter tastes off (burnt oil) & the chips were more like fries & somehow raw.
The fish & chips was the best I have had in a long time it was delicious & the staff was friendly. It was first time trying Poutine,I love it. My grands enjoyed the shrimp salad & the chicken as well.
I find that there were too many fries on the plate, & I'm not sure why the mushy peas are not automatically included with the fish & chips platters (which they traditionally are)... The pricing seems a bit steep for the portion size... although the quality is acceptable.
It was the first time going back after Covid. Honestly it was a little bit disappointing. Regardless the price the fish was very good , French fries was so so . Talking about the service, it has been changed a lot . It became to a fast-food restaurant like McDonald's , therefore everything is self-service including dinner in .
Friendly staff. You get a buzzer to go pick up your food when it is ready so no table service. This is a small place. There are some tables at the very back near the toilets but we sat at the breakfast bar type seating. Food is served on trays. Way too many chips but overall food was good. Just a pity that for the money no sides (peas or salad)were included
As someone who lived in Scotland & misses a good fish & chips, Brit & Chips fills the void! Everything was great (especially good chips)! Service was quick & the staff was friendly. Will 100% be coming back!
Amazing service & really good fish & chips. I usually don't feel so welcome as I was made to feel here. Fish was well battered & flavourful. Fries were amazing as well. The tartare sauce was the highlight for me. My best meal in Montreal & that's saying something. Portion size was good & I had to split it up to share with my friend, which was done for me by the friendly staff.
I loved the different choices of fish & batters. The maple batter was so light & just a tad sweet. Overall the fish, fries & coleslaw were delicious. However the price is pretty high considering the sides aren’t even included.
