Fantastic. Best fish & chips ever. Hope I'm not being unfair, but between among all I've had so far in GTA, this is way better. Fresh sauce & amazingly tasteful; chips are crispy & didn't have that breaded thing that many restaurants use in Ontario; fish was juicy & perfectly fried. Not a food critic, just like good stuff.
Best Fish n Chips on this Side of the Pond! Brits rejoice! THIS is the place for you, for all! Well worth hunting down, this slit of a shop was playing futbol on the tellie & serving up some of the best British classics ever! With a Burgundy Lion Al in hand, the fish was fried to perfection & the chips were abundant, the deep-fried Oreos along with the beignets aux pommes will bring a tear to your eye! Lastly, the shrimp salad was nothing short of savory & our applause to the chef! Looking forward to returning again & again with each visit to Montreal!

Service was excellent, atmosphere was cute (although not recommended for groups larger than 4), & the food was okay. The cod was a bit dry, the fried skin seemed a tad overcooked in a few spots as well, & it didn't taste seasoned. However, the tarter sauce & garlic mayo was good. You get a huge portion of fries. Id recommend sharing the fish & chips (add 1 extra piece of fish) between two people rather than getting 2 different orders. If you're not starving, 1 order without an additional piece may even be enough.
We had a great stop here! The beer was perfect on such a hot day our food was delicious! We got poutine & pickled cucumbers. The pickles were super tangy & the poutine was incredible! To be honest, this was the only poutine we've ever had in Canada so we aren't experts but we did love it!!!! I wish we were hungrier so we could have tried their fish. The staff was super friendly & helpful!! We're fans for sure!!
My friend & I couldn't help but shook our heads & exclaimed: "Miracle! Miracle!" Considering the current high prices, it can still be sold at such a low price. What is it but a miracle? $20 for a meal, & delicious!
Food is top notch. I got the cod fish & chips. Poutine is one of the best in the city & so are the fries. Only downside is the service & how heavily they pressure you for the tip, even for take out. But the food is sooooo good.

Ordered Haddock Maple Syrup batter. Did not taste the maple syrup at all! & they changed the fries, used to be homefries thicker & sweet. Frozen fries are unappealing! No longer same since new ownership.
Excellent as always Friendly staff. Switched to english fairly quickly to accomodate my friend's lack of french. Excellent fish & chips. Poutine is a must here
Great place in Montréal to get fish & chips. Fish is fresh, & the batter is crispy. Fries are perfectly made. The servers are friendly. The dining room is a bit cramped.
One of the things I always try to do is visit a chippy everywhere I go! I've had them almost everywhere I've been. The best ones tend to besmall but with a large fryer. Brit & Chips was no exception. Tables & seats inside are limited, as space is dedicated to producing delicious meals! We almost passed on the place due to lack of seating. Fortunately, one of the wait staff, Daní informed us that they had plenty of outdoor seating. I was dubious at first as the canopy on the outdoor seating area looked like it was designed for sun, not rain! As we'd brought umbrellas, problem solved! We'd dine seni al fresco under a combination of sun shade & umbrellas. The menu is not fancy, fish in various forms, freshly prepared & served hot. My wife & her niece were reticent about trying the maple syrup battered haddock but her boyfriend, being the adventurous type, ordered it with chips. Daní correctly informed us that while one could tell maple syrup was an ingredient, it wasn't sweet like eating pancakes. The rest of us ordered the cod, in burgundy ale batter. To get us started we had a couple of amazing Québec produced bitter beers & a couple of glasses of house wine. My wife commented that the wine was excellent. The food arrived promptly & the presentation was exactly what one would expect from a British style chippy. 2 pieces of crisp golden brown battered fish with a generous helping of crisp chips! The flavour was amazing for both fish & chips. My niece's boyfriend noted that as Danaí had predicted, the maple syrup in the batter helped enhance the flavour of the fish & definitely did not overpower it. Pricing was what one would expect for a quality fish & chip meal, with wine & domestic beer. All in all, a great meal served by the friendly & attentive Danaí in a convivial atmosphere. Definitely a must visit for a chippy aficionado (pun intended)!
Very good fish & chips. The service is welcoming, friendly & efficient. The atmosphere is casual but pleasant. All this makes for a tasty & comfortable lunch.
Added this on my list of poutine to try while visiting Montreal, because I love fish/chips, reviews were good & fairly close to the hotel. I had the halibut with a poutine & it was so good. My order was quick (maybe 5 minutes) & came out hot & fresh. Fish wasn't oily, just enough batter & meat on fish was perfect. Fries were the perfect fresh cut & well cooked. Couldn't finish it one sitting. Had the rest 4 hours later & it was still good! Service was also good. Will be back!

Our first night in Montreal was Good Friday & my friend that I was traveling with said that his family always did fish & chips & really wanted to do that for dinner. Upon research, Brit & Chips was the restaurant that kept coming up. We knew since it was Good Friday there might be a wait but we didn't mind. When we got there they said it was 45 mins but we got in a lot quicker than that. We both got the maple battered haddock & it was absolutely delicious. It was just the right fish to batter ratio & it wasn't greasy at all. Wasn't super pricey & we got a lot of food. Will make this a stop again next time I come to Montreal!
I haven't had great fish & chips that was even close to as good as I had here today in many years . Two big pieces of cod in an excellent batter with a ton of great fries that I was not able to finish to my great regret. I will definitely be back again!
