You want real portuguese? This is the PLACE in Montreal. If you haven't tried it, you definitely should add it to your list. Best chicken on charcoal, delicious crispy fries & a lot of choices on the menu & best sangria. The all crew are amazing.

Portuguese chicken is seen as a fast casual option in Montreal, so I must make a point of saying this is a pretty nice restaurant. The prices are higher than Monteiro, but the food is on another level. They use a very nice house dressing on the salad. The chicken & the fish were excellent. They have a lot of seafood offerings. The service was excellent. It's a great place for a nice date. Try to get a reservation.
Tucked away like a well-kept secret, this Portuguese charcoal grill restaurant is far more than a neighborhood staple - it's a culinary pilgrimage for those craving authenticity with a touch of elegance. From the moment you step inside, the scent of smoldering charcoal & marinated meats transports you to the heart of Portugal, where tradition is not just respected - it's revered.
The ambiance strikes a rare balance: rustic yet refined. Warm wood tones, traditional Azorean tile accents, & an open grill set the tone, while attentive service & curated Portuguese wines elevate the experience.
The frango no churrasco - chicken grilled over open flame - is the soul of the menu. Crispy-skinned, deeply seasoned, & kissed by smoke, it's a masterclass in simplicity & depth. But the sophistication reveals itself in the sides: tender roasted vegetables, perfectly salted potatoes, & house-made piri-piri that's fiery yet balanced.
Don't skip the bacalhau - a dish that demands respect & delivers reward. The cod is buttery, the olive oil rich & aromatic, & the garlic confit melts on the tongue. Each bite feels like a nod to generations past, lovingly modernized.
For dessert, the pastel de nata arrives warm with a delicate brûlée top - a simple, elegant finale to a meal grounded in heritage & elevated with care.
In a city full of noise, this place doesn't shout - it speaks softly, with integrity. It's Portuguese to the core, but with the kind of quiet sophistication that invites both regulars & newcomers to feel like they've come home.
Authentic cuisine, great staff & overall lovely experience. I had the chicken filet which had a kick of spice & flavourful. I would also highly recommend the sandwiches which are delicious! Highly recommend
I wanted to like this place. Friendly, casual vibe. It seems very popular. One waitress was very nice, even if the other one seemed put out. She was just clearly slammed by the rush. No hard feelings or anything, but unfortunately, her disposition was not counterbalanced by exceptional food. On the contrary, I was disappointed, gastronomically speaking. The croquetas were deep fried dumplings with a liquidy paste inside, the grilled cod was dry & inedibly salty, & the chicken plus ribs combo was chicken plus 2 1/2 small dry ribs. I am usually easy to please with Portuguese grill. Unfortunately, Braseiro missed the mark.
I love to see an owner getting in the action, especially when this one has a great way of communicating & a nice smile, it is a pleasure to have tasted the food of this chicken place, & I will order the #2 again for all the quantity, there was enough for fill 3 people at least especially with the big box of potato haha you can't ask better, they give it to you on a silver plate
1st time here. We live in the area & we wanted something close by Well, we were impressed ! Unpretentious Portuguese eatery with delicious chicken & meats on the charcoal We loved the spicy poutine ! The sandwich bifana was tender & tasty! The mixed meat platter was excellent & full of flavours. Salad is insane too! The Natas for dessert ended up much better than expected & not to miss Definetly going back!

This is my favorite Portuguese chicken place in Montreal! I also tried the spicy sauce & oh boy it sure does have a unique kick! Their spicy chorizo is a must try. I always bring my visitors here. Also try Super Bock, the best Portuguese beer!

Ordered takeout for the very first time & was blown away by how amazing this chicken & the natas were. I had initially read the reviews on here & was worried about the ones claiming that the chicken had no meat on the bones or that there wasn't any sauce etc etc. This was not my experience at all. I decided to give it a go & order despite some of the bad reviews & im happy to say ive discovered my new "go to" portuguese chicken place. Don't skip out on the natas, they taste just like the ones in Portugal!
I've tried Portuguese chicken at various restaurants around Montreal, & without a doubt Braseiro has the vey best. The chicken is seasoned to the bone. The portions you get for the price is really large. It's a small place but the service is great & the ambiance is wonderful any night of the week. My only complaint is that they close too early on a Friday or Saturday night.
When in the area, I'll stop for a lunch sandwich which is always so tasty. I sometimes also pickup quarter chicken when on way home. Also very good. Small cozy place & good service.
First time visiting & will definitely come back for more, great variety in the menu. We had the grilled calamaris, sardines, bitoque & meat plater & it was delicious even down to the fries.. & that sauce, yummy. Can't wait to try the rest like the chicken & octopus. Staff is very courteous, helpful & humane. There's also a full bar. Sangria was excellent & looking to try that vinha verde soon!
