About

Bombay Mahal specializes in authentic Northern Indian culinary traditions through an extensive menu of tandoori specialties and rich curries. Diners encounter a selection of clay oven roasted meats marinated in traditional yogurt and robust spice blends. The kitchen prioritizes classic techniques to prepare staples like creamy butter chicken alongside a variety of fragrant basmati rice preparations. Freshly baked naan serves as an essential component of the table, perfectly suited for scooping up intricate masalas and lentil dals. The interior features a straightforward aesthetic that focuses on the intensity of the kitchen output rather than ornamental flair. This establishment offers a direct exploration of vibrant regional flavors characterized by the measured use of ginger, garlic, and freshly toasted aromatic spices in every signature dish.

I ordered the lamb korma & the pulao rice on Uber Eats, it was extraordinary!! It arrived so hot that I didn't even need to reheat it (I like 10-15 mins away) & the lamb just melts in your mouth. I've ordered from here many times before & I've never been disappointed. Try out the pulao rice instead of white rice with your dish, it's my favourite!!

After having eaten at (& been very impressed by) the Bombay Mahal Parc-Ex location earlier this weekend, I thought I'd give the NDG location a try as I live in the neighbourhood & would love to find a local Indian restaurant of similar quality.

I ordered the chicken vindaloo along with steamed rice, naan, & an appetizer of lentil dhal. The first thing I noticed was the prices punched in by the staff member were much higher than what was advertised on their website. When I mentioned this he altered the price, though the total was still more than if I had simply ordered on Uber Eats for pick-up. I am not sure if this was an honest mistake, or a blatant attempt at an upcharge, but it certainly wasn't the best way to start my dining experience. If the chicken vindaloo is indeed $16, the $12 listing on the website should be updated.

The food arrived quickly & the table service was fine. The inclusion of a free bottle of water & disappointingly bland vindaloo cannot help but lead me to suspect that I might have received the'Gora version' of the dish. I include this in my review in case anyone else with a light complexion likes their vindaloo spicy & visits this restaurant... just be sure to ask for the full spice when ordering.

I'm not normally one to fuss about atmosphere, but in comparison to the Parc-Ex location I feel compelled to mention it. While that spot is bright, bustling, & clean. This location had uncleared tables, somewhat dour staff, & a generally uncaring vibe.

With several other Indian restaurants within walking distance on Sherbrooke, unfortunately my search for one to visit consistently as a local will have to continue.

I ordered the Seekh Thali & Non-Veg Thali, but the food didn't meet my expectations. The seekhs were too dry & just spicy without any real flavor. There were no onions or salad served, which is unusual for this kind of meal.

The atmosphere wasn't great either. It was uncomfortable seeing Uber drivers not being treated well while they waited for orders, & I found it shocking that there were no hand sanitizers available anywhere, especially in a food establishment. Cleanliness & a welcoming vibe are just as important as the food, & unfortunately, this place fell short on all fronts.

Ordered uber, it was so saltyyyyy couldn't eat the bahji oignon! Even their rice was salty & VERY oily (it was a lake of oil at the bottom pf the container). Very disappointing!
Palak paneer was ok but sooo oily. Would not recommend.
