Bombay Mahal is widely regarded as a standout destination for Indian cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its rich, authentic flavors and consistently delicious menu offerings. Many patrons highlight the butter chicken, chicken biryani, lamb korma, and various thali plates as must-try dishes, noting that the food often arrives fresh, hot, and generous in portion size. The service is frequently described as friendly, helpful, and welcoming, contributing to an overall positive experience for those seeking satisfying comfort food. While some diners suggest that the interior atmosphere is better suited for takeout than long stays and note the high volume of delivery activity, the restaurant remains a top choice for many local regulars who appreciate the value, consistent quality, and warm hospitality of the staff.
My partner & I ordered takeout: chicken biryani, a chicken roll, some mango lassi & a soft drink, plus we received complimentary bottled water.
The service was quick & friendly & our dishes were fresh & hot. The mango lassi was fresh & cold. Everything looked appetizing.
I'm no connaisseur, but I've been to parts of Northern India, where I've tried many types of food, & I enjoyed my dinner here very much. I had a veg thali plate last time & it was also very good.
For reviewers who've had a less than stellar Uber etc delivery experience, I think it's helpful to know that some food doesn't travel well for delivery. For example, some sauces separate as they cool.
Delivery & takeout seem like the main modes of service. There are some tables & chairs but they seem like they're for customers who are waiting for their orders.
The interior finish is clean, but it shows normal signs of wear. The server told me that they have been at this location for ten years. A little paint & some new upholstery would make a difference.

This was super disappointing. I got takeout once before from here & enjoyed it but I honesty don't know what happened this time. I got watery chicken curry. They gave us complimentary mango lassi when I picked up the food, which is nice, but the meal itself was bad. Dry chicken. Other dishes we got needed more salt.
Very tasty well prepared assortment of dishes at a reasonable price. Skews a little hotter that your food court Indian fare. Service was fine. Place could use some sprucing up decor wise, but it looks like it mostly a take out.
