Review Summary

Bistro Nolah is widely regarded as a standout destination for authentic New Orleans inspired Cajun and Creole cuisine in the West Island. Guests frequently praise the flavorful, high quality dishes such as the shrimp and grits, brisket, fried chicken, and signature beignets, often highlighting the impressive attention to detail in every course. While the intimate, cozy atmosphere and warm, attentive service are major draws for many, some diners note that the space can become quite loud and occasionally feel crowded. Although a few reviewers found certain dishes to be overly spicy or prices to be on the higher side, the overwhelming majority of visitors describe their experience as memorable and top notch, frequently returning for both brunch and dinner.

We absolutely enjoyed Bistro Nolah, one of the best restaurants that we have tasted in a long time. We had Hush Puppies (Cornbread) & Fried Chicken for appetizers. The fried chicken was really flavourful down to the very fibre of the chicken. For dinner, we ordered the shrimp & grits, pan seared scallops (special on the menu) & smoked brisket. & for dessert, we had the beignets (the best donuts that you will ever taste in your whole life). Every single course of the meal which they make completely in house (including the bread & the special butter) was absolutely gorgeous & extremely flavourful that wakes up every single taste bud in your palate.

& our waiter Chris was very attentive & fantastic to us. One of our children has Celiac disease & cannot eat gluten so he could not eat any of the appetizers except one (Chris was also very knowledgeable about the gluten & the non-gluten menu choices as well btw.) & had to wait for his main dish which took a bit of time to arrive as the night was quite busy. When we asked if our child can have his plate first before the rest of us, Christ promptly went to the kitchen & got our child's dish to serve it to our child. & he even remembered that my child might not be used to the spiciness in the dish & they set the spicy sauce on the side so not to make the dish too spicy for him. My child ordered the Blackened Catfish & it was so delicious my child finished every single morsel on his plate even the vegetables asparagus. He finished the food so fast we couldn't even take a photo. :)

We are so glad that we found this place which is nestled away in a small plaza. It's one of our most enjoyable gastronomical experience inside a beautifully decorated dining room. It's our first time visiting this restaurant & tasting Southern comfort food New Orleans. We will definitely be back.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, & I finally got a few ladies together to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant was cozy, & the ambiance had the charming bistro feel I was expecting. The only downside was that the tables were a little small, which made things feel a bit cramped.

The food was very good, & while the portions were satisfying, I would recommend ordering both an appetizer & a main course for the full experience. I was very happy with my choices-the lobster roll & the prime rib were both delicious. Overall, it was a great dining experience, & I'd definitely come back.

Bistro Nolah never misses. The food, the drinks, the service, & the cozy atmosphere keep us coming back.

The highlight was definitely the'death by gumbo', a gumbo served with a perfectly tender duck leg. Also, the blackened cat fish tacos are to die for.

Shoutout to Elijah for guiding us through the menu & giving us great recommendations

Always enjoy this Bistro. Today was for brunch, chicken with French toast & the brisket melt. The service, food & atmosphere are consistently good. Price is also fair, (portions are large).
Weather was accommodating so we chose to eat on the terrasse. They don't allow reservations for the terrasse so you need to make a reservation for inside first, then choose the terrace if available when you arrive.

Nolah Bistro - Solid food with some caveats.

We had dinner at Nolah Bistro recently. The service was excellent. Our server Michael was friendly, attentive, & made great suggestions.

The food is good but consistently too spicy, which tends to mask the flavors. The octopus appetizer was very good, the merguez balls less so. The tuna was tasty, but the shrimps were overwhelmingly spicy, even for heat lovers.

The biggest disappointment was the ambience. Even at the bar away from the crowd, the noise level was excessive. It felt like a rowdy sports bar during a hockey game.

If you're a fan of very spicy food, don't mind loud environments, & are going with a group, Nolah Bistro is a fine choice. However, if you're looking for a quaint, relaxed bistro experience where you can actually taste the nuances of the food & have a proper conversation, you might want to look elsewhere.

First time at Bistro Nolah & it surpassed expectations! A real gem with amazingly flavourful food & impeccable service by wait staff. It beats any trendy chain restaurant by a long shot in terms of the quality of their dishes & customer attention. Highly recommended!

Took my mother to Bistro Nolah for Mother's Day & had a really great experience. The food was amazing - everything was fresh, flavorful, & cooked perfectly. You can tell they really care about the quality of the dishes.

Also want to give a shoutout to our waiter, the younger guy who served us. He was super kind, funny, & really knew the menu well. He helped us decide what to order & all his recommendations were spot on. He honestly made the experience even better. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

We went to Bistro Nola last night & had an excellent experience from start to finish.

We shared a few appetizers including the mac & cheese, fried chicken, & gumbo sausage, all were absolutely delicious & full of flavor. Perfect for sharing & a great way to start the meal.

For mains, we had the smoked brisket, braised short ribs, & blackened catfish. Every dish was cooked perfectly & packed with rich, authentic flavors.

Dessert was on another level. We tried the Mississippi mud pie, pain perdu, & beignets. Everything was amazing, but the Oreo mud pie really stood out.

Service was fast, friendly, & very smooth all evening. The restaurant was packed, so we were really glad we made a reservation.

Overall, great value, amazing food, & a fantastic atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Went to Bistro Nola for Breakfast on Sunday. I didnt have reservations. I sat at the bar. The food was very very good. I was surprised they didnt have fresh squeezed orange juice, & charged $7 for Tropicana OJ, but everything else was stellar. I had the Le Richard. 2 pieces of Fried chicken on French toast...a poached egg on a corn bread muffin, & some ham underneath the muffin, with home fries. Very good. Cooked perfectly.

They have a very well stocked bar too, good scotches & rums. I'm surprised Kalhua for their coffee liqueur, vs Barista from Montreal, very coffee forward coffee liqueur, vs Kalhua. But just offering suggestions.
