Best brunch in the mile end... sorry Larry.... I ordered the Turkish eggs & went back the next day for the Zaatar breakfast sandwich, the ingredients are so fresh & flavourful. It was like living on a homestead & taking all the food from the garden & creating something so so delicious. I've been to a few brunch places in the mile end & nothing compares to Le Bar Sparrow. It's beautifully curated in it's design. If I lived in Montreal this place would rob me $. I can't wait to go back, it'll next time MTL, & THANK YOUView more

I smile, & hold her close. I feel no fear. I say to her,'we're going to go to Bar Le Sparrow to order the breakfast Banh Mi with eggplant. We'll once again taste the best sandwich that has ever graced the face of this earth; the combination of perfectly baked bread, fried eggs & eggplant, Hoisin sauce, & fresh veggies dancing on our tongues; only made better by the fantastic service, friendly staff, & unbeatable vibe of the bar; before we accept our annihilation.'
She smiles back. We eat our sandwiches in peace as the meteor makes its impact. Our last thoughts are only the hope that somewhere & sometime out there in the vast expanse of the cold & great universe, sentient life will again emerge, rebuild civilization, & once again discover the glory of Bar Le Sparrow's breakfast Banh Mi.View more

I was craving shakshuka & went to Sparrow to satisfy my craving! It never disappoints, super flavourful & so happy I got to brunch there. Also had their cardamom latte (so fragrant!) & asked for extra merguez on the shakshuka. Sat by the bar counter alone & the staff kept me company & chatted with me.View more

Très beau resto bar à prix abordable offrant d'excellents cocktails & des rabais très intéressants sur ceux-ci lors des 5 à 7 en semaine. C'est aussi l'endroit par excellence pour les amateurs d'huîtres du dimanche au mercredi à 1$ l'huître de 5 à 7! C'est une promotion intéressante à ne pas négliger actuellement! Bravo!View more

A great place to grab a drink, they have a nice selection of cocktails. I had a Fuego Fresco which was spicy & really good, followed by the Margarita Lime Kafir which was also great. You can pair that with some snacks or even a full meal as they do have a full restaurant. The food was good, the fries were excellent & the Karaage chicken served in little bite sized balls was very good, although I thought the sauce was a little too sweet. The service is fast & friendly & you can actually hear yourselves speak, which is a major plus compared to many other bars. It got a little louder as the time passed but still quite good.View more

My favourite weekday cider spot & also brunch place. They've got very solid after-dinner snacks at great prices, & a wide cocktail list. But most special of all is the lighting & the wooden chairs & tables & the long beautiful bar. This place feels like it's got a fireplace roaring. I'd add photos but they're all happy blurry late-night impressions. For brunch, any of their sandwiches are incredible.View more

Je n’ai pas entamé mon repas que déjà je suis de belle humeur. Un message d’une amitié que je croyais perdue s’affiche dans ma boîte de réception alors que je prenais place sur le banc rembourré du bar le Moineau. Il est sincère, chaleureux, comme un baume sur le cœur. De même, à son image, l’engageant plat de cilbir (œufs turcs) que m’indique la barmaid ajoute une couche de plaisir : saucer le pain grillé au levain, à la fois croustillant & moelleux, dans ce yogourt à l’aneth & à l’air, beurre noisette & huile de piment relève du pur bonheur.
L’un des avantages de manger en solo est de pouvoir prêter davantage attention à son environnement. Je crois reconnaître l’un des copropriétaires du local qui fait la conversation avec des commensaux. Allègre, il leur verse un verre de vin. Il n’est que midi, mais l’heure est à la réjouissance & peut-être à la célébration d’un partenariat ou d’une vieille amitié. À ma gauche, un musicien entretient une conversation avec la barmaid, peu sollicitée à ce moment, qui est tout ouïe & tout sourire.
Je termine avec gourmandise mon assiette & j’examine le menu à nouveau à la recherche de quelques choses à rapporter à la maison. Tiens, les sandwichs, pourquoi pas Un za’atar & un naan, s’il vous plaît?! Malheureusement, ces deux choix font pâle figure face aux œufs turcs en raison de leur manque de caractère, & ce, en dépit de leur agréable apparence. Je regrette de ne pouvoir fournir de commentaires plus constructifs que cette vague impression qu’ils pourraient être retravaillés (pour en avoir goûté de meilleurs ailleurs, mais loin de moi l'idée de m'ériger en expert !). Je me retrouve donc avec une boîte pour emporter remplie de deux moitiés de sandwich dont le succès à la maison reste incertain.
Toutefois, il est clair que le temps de la déjeunette demeure populaire & quelques groupes attendent patiemment leur tour. J’imagine que l’esthétique des lieux rappelant une taverne en fait un endroit propice aux rencontres. Je souhaite également souligner le service courtois du personnel.
Si je reviens, j’essayerai leur déjeuner turc dont j’avais lu du grand bien.View more
