The McGowan Inn opens its doors to a living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a bar, where you can enjoy a drink or a good coffee. The adjoining dining room, completely glazed, and the large terrace offer a magnificent view of Lake Memphremagog. The Inn also offers a private room that can accommodate a group of 12 people for a meeting or for a meal taken in complete privacy.
Local products are featured, including fine herbs from the Inn's garden and organic vegetables from the Jardin du Quartier, which holds a farmers' market on Saturdays in Georgeville.
Auberge McGowan is described as a stunning lakeside retreat with a recently renovated, stylish interior and breathtaking views over Lake Memphremagog, providing a setting that elevates every meal. The food generally earns high praise for quality, flavor and careful presentation, with diners enjoying everything from brunch and lunch on the terrace to refined dinners and a well regarded table d'hote, though a few notes mention small portions for the price and some inconsistency on off nights. Service is repeatedly described as warm, attentive and professional, yet a number of visits flag occasional delays, less refined service during peak times, or menu rigidity for vegetarians. The terrace ambiance is a highlight, often described as serene with sunsets, though summer evenings can bring loud live music on the terrace that makes conversation difficult. Overall, the location, decor and cuisine combine to make it a memorable experience worth returning to despite occasional price concerns and brief service snags.
Great lunch with a great view in a beautiful setting. Our first time back since it was newly renovated. Exquisitely done. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
We celebrated our son's 18th birthday & had a lovely dinner in the Inn. Although we did not stay over, the restaurant & bar were beautiful, & the service was great. I hope to return in the summer when we can experience more of the view.

I had lunch with my husband & friend on Friday. We were so pleased with the whole experience! The setting was beautiful with a view of the lake & the restaurant was quiet. So happy there was no loud music playing as some of us have hearing issues. We were able to enjoy our conversations. Thank you! The food was delicious with 2 having the fish & chips (beautiful piece of cod with a light crisp batter) & I had the gnocchi with wild mushrooms, peas & pancetta. Excellent! With a glass of wine it was the perfect lunch. This is the third time since July that my husband & I have brought friends & dined at Auberge McGowan. We will definitely be back to enjoy a winter meal. Hopefully in front of your fireplace. Here is a picture from our July lunch.
This hotel is beautiful. The beds are comfy, the decor is nice & the view is stunning. So, I was surprised to note that the service was no match for the aesthetics. For the money we paid per night (approx $400/night), I would have expected maybe a bottle of water in the room, or not to be balked at when I asked for extra towels, or have the room serviced/clean or, at the very least, have someone come in & empty the garbages. They should tell the customers that once they check in, that's where the service ends.
Auberge McGowan is a charming retreat known for its exceptionally friendly service, which creates a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The small, family-owned nature of the establishment enhances this feeling, allowing for personalized attention & a sense of intimacy that larger hotels often lack. Nestled on the waterfront, the setting is both serene & picturesque, offering guests beautiful views & a tranquil environment. It is an ideal spot for my 50th birthday. Thank you for welcoming my entire family & we will definitely come back on a yearly basis.

Beautiful building, inside & out. Beautifully situated by beautiful Lake Memphremagog in beautiful Georgeville. Great lunch, great service. What more could one ask for!!
We had a wonderful weekend. The space is beautiful & the rooms were very comfortable. If I could offer a few suggestions to make the stay 5 star it would be to have bar sized refrigerators in each guest room & housekeeping daily to refresh towels & clear out dirty dishes. Also, decaffeinated coffee pods in the rooms would be great as well. Looking forward to returning!

We had friends from out of town & the music was so loud, we could not hear each other talk. That is my only criticism. The atmosphere was beautiful. We got the table by the window. The food was fabulous, especially the gnocchi
What a beautiful renovation! Representing the History of Georgeville & the Inn with black & white photos from the mid eighteen hundreds offers Guests an experiance beyond Culinary. Definately a five star event. Everybody was so friendly, our waiter in particular. The food was delicious. & the View!! Wow.
We've eaten indoors & out on the Terrace, both Venues excellant. Once we even had outdoor Entertainment, an enhanced experiance for sure. We will be back for sure with friends & Family, to pass on the word.
Beautiful setting, wonderful re-do of the former inn. A brunch menu would have been nice, but the lunch menu selections were good. Service was pleasant.
This was our second time in the beautifully renovated Mc Gowan. This location is unique & magical. Although we have some nostalgia for the old rustic McGowan, we feel the new building & decor is a great addition to the area & a wonderful tribute to Georgeville. The food was excellent, fish was cooked just right, as were the companion vegetables. However, there remains much room for improvement on desserts. The sound level is a bit too high for comfortable conversation
