I lost my hat at the restaurant on July 5th & was lucky enough to get connected with Charlotte Picard from the restaurant, who kindly offered to ship the hat back to me. I was more than happy to cover the shipping fee.
Unfortunately, I haven't received any updates since then, despite following up a few times. I understand things can get busy, but I'd really appreciate it if someone from the restaurant could help look into this & arrange to have my hat shipped back to me. I'd still be very happy to cover the shipping cost. Please feel free to reach out to me through Google if you see this review.
Food-wise, the foie gras was good, while the pig's feet & pig's brain were quite rich & greasy for my taste.
The food was fabulous & service spectacular. The foie gras was rich yet balanced, the escargot drenched in garlic & butter, & the fish meuniere was prepared to perfection. Thank you for a delightful expereience!
This restaurant is awesome!!! When I travel to certain cities, I always try to get the local cuisine & everybody told me that this was the place to go. My uncle & I shared the shepherds pie & the Newfoundland cod & they were both excellent. The poutine is phenomenal & the bread & butter was amazing. I don't know how they make that butter, but if I could buy it by the pound ... I would. & when I thought things couldn't get better, my favorite dessert on the planet .... they have it. Pouding Chomeur!!! Our waitress was a young lady named Miki & she was great also. The next time I'm headed back to Montreal, you could make a guarantee that I will make a reservation to come here again because it was so great.
Gross bathroom. Food is flashy but not really that impressive. Duck was not tender for being slow cooked in a can. They pulled out the stops for Anthony Bourdain but they wont for you.
My favourite place to visit when I visit Montreal. The food is incredible, the staff is friendly & knowledgeable & the ambience is perfect. Worth every penny.
I had wanted to visit Au Pied de Cochon for quite some time after seeing the restaurant featured on Somebody Feed Phil. What initially caught my attention was the creativity behind the food, the level of detail in each dish, & the restaurant's willingness to approach Québécois cuisine with such a distinctive personality. On my recent trip to Montreal, I finally had the opportunity to experience it for myself.
From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. What stood out most was that the staff did not simply provide good service they genuinely seemed to care about the experience they were creating for their guests. Our servers were attentive, welcoming, & extremely knowledgeable about the menu & the food they were serving. There was a clear sense of pride in the restaurant & its cuisine.
I started with the Plogue à Champlain, which was beautifully executed. The flavours were rich yet remarkably well balanced, & the attention to detail was evident throughout the dish. Despite having several bold components, everything worked together rather than competing with one another. It was creative, thoughtful, & absolutely delicious.
I also ordered the restaurant's famous Duck in a Can. While I appreciate the concept & creativity behind such an iconic dish, it ultimately did not meet my personal expectations. I communicated this to the staff, & their response became one of the most memorable aspects of the evening. Rather than simply accepting the feedback, they genuinely cared about making sure I left satisfied. They offered to prepare another dish for me something they personally recommended & would choose themselves & did not charge me for it. That gesture was completely unexpected & demonstrated a level of hospitality & professionalism that I greatly respected.
My fiancée ordered the pesto tagliatelle, which was also exceptionally well executed. The pasta had wonderful flavour, very light & once again, the care & attention to detail were immediately apparent.
Another highlight of the evening was having the pleasure of speaking with the General Manager, Emile, & Rosalie. Being able to have a genuine conversation with them & exchange ideas about the restaurant, its direction, & their vision added another dimension to the experience. It was fascinating to hear the thought & passion behind what they are creating. Conversations like these are particularly meaningful because they allow you to see beyond what arrives on the plate & better understand the people, ideas, & philosophy behind the restaurant.
What ultimately impressed me most about Au Pied de Cochon was not simply one particular dish. It was the philosophy behind the entire experience. This is a restaurant that clearly cares deeply about the food it puts on the table, but equally importantly, it cares about the people sitting at that table. When something did not meet my expectations, the staff listened, responded professionally, & went beyond what I would ever have expected to make the experience memorable.
There is a reason a restaurant like this has remained so successful & respected. Creativity & great cooking are certainly part of it, but genuine hospitality, attention to detail, & the way a restaurant treats its guests are equally important.
I left Au Pied de Cochon with tremendous respect not only for the food, but for the people behind it & the culture they have created. My experience reminded me that a truly memorable restaurant is about much more than what is served on the plate it is about the complete experience, from the kitchen to the dining room & every interaction in between.
I cannot wait to return to Au Pied de Cochon for another experience.
Flew in from Vancouver last weekend specifically to try this place after hearing about it for years, & it absolutely did not disappoint. The duck in a can is even more theatrical than I expected, with the server opening it tableside & the whole duck just sort of tumbling out into a pool of rich broth. The room has this cozy, dimly lit bistro feel that made the whole meal feel special without being stuffy about it. Honestly one of the best dining experiences I have had traveling across Canada, & I am already planning an excuse to come back to Montreal.
