foie gras(247) duck(190) recommend(108) bar(88) poutine(88) pork(85) dishes(82) dessert(70) wine(69) chef(65) nigiri(63) highly recommend(53)The experience failed to live up to the hype. Service was inconsistent from the start, with the appetizer arriving a full hour after we placed our order. The signature dishes were overly salted, & we left half of the duck untouched. Dessert was a cloyingly sweet caramel soup, lacking balance. Staff attributed the delays & missteps to the crowd & peak-hour rush. Even the bill took 15 minutes to arrive after we requested it.
We spent some days in Montreal & tried some great restaurants, including this one. The food is very good, some aspects might be improved (my pork was a bit too dry) but in general very satisfying.
We just felt the service is not on point with the price & kind of offer of this place. We had to order bread 3 times & feels like the waiters are not so experienced. Would be perfect for a pub / easy going restaurant, but probably not enough professional for this kind of restaurant.
In general a good experience tho!
Mediocre food quality for the price. The branzino & sauce were tasteless. The beef tripe was nearly uneatable. Service was really good. Not coming back & would not recommend.
Excellent Canadian creativity. Has a wonderful dinner. Best not to be on a diet an embrace the full calorie delicacies!
Hello, with all the respect to the staff & hard working people involved in this restaurant.
I write this because a reputation like the one PDC has, the restaurant must've seen better days.
-The flavor of the oyster with quail eggs isn't memorable, cold oysters with mignonette is more enjoyable. Maybe temperature, seasoning, not special overall i don't know, it did not hit
- The poutine sauce is comparable to a regular gravy… it isn't recognizable by a distinct foie gras flavor, there is an opportunity there to make us eat FOIE GRAS POUTINE FROM PDC. Cooked foie gras was delicious
- temaki, It isn't exceptional, i could have a similar satisfaction from a mid sushi restaurant
- flétan, potatoes were almost the best part
- foie gras torchon, amazing with the sauce, amazing classic
- duck in a can, tough breast, maybe should be leg instead? I dont know
That, & i havent yet said that not a single dish came piping hot the way it should to make us customers feel good.
There must be revision of technique & maybe the menu items & portion sizes, presentation, to honor the glutinous & honorable quebecois cuisine influenced by the og chef. If the restaurant wants to party, make the crazy food make us want to partyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😛😛😛😛
MORE PASSION CHEFS MORE LOVE & CRAZINESS IN THE FOOD 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Excellent restaurant, service impeccable ! Je voulais commander une tête de poisson, mais malheureusement il n'y en avait pas ce jour-là. Cela dit, tout le reste était délicieux. Je reviendrai avec plaisir ! 5 étoiles !
An outstanding bistro. Dishes with creativity & dedication to freshness & deliciousness. Must try Duck in a Can.
The staff are always busy & seemingly unorganised. But they did kept their smiles & zeal to serve.
The foie gras nigiri is an excellent bite; the sushi rice is well seasoned & the individual grains separate when pressed; the sous vide foie gras is melt in your mouth & pairs well with the peanut puree.
No thanks. Service was just poor. Cooks were doing shots in the kitchen & not paying attention. Like watching kids. Took forever. We should gave just left. Manager was apologetic. Pretentious beyond worth. Wont be back & won't miss it.
As a restaurant owner I had been wanting to visit here for many years & it was worth the wait. Unfortunatly I do not recall the name of my server but I was seated at the counter on Friday evening. Dining my myself she planned my entire experience, even arranging half orders of the Egg & Foie Temaki & Foie Gras Nigiri so that I could get the full experience. It was her efforts & hospitality that turned a memorable night into a truly extraordinary experience. Every course was fantastic & watching the kitchen team work together was a delight. Your reputation is well deserved & I am already thinking about my return. Thank you Au Pied de Cochon.
We spent 4 days in Montreal going to restos highly recommended on tic toc & were constantly disappointed as nothing lived up to the hype but fortunately we saved the best to last.
Au Pieds was so unbelievably satisfying in every respect. As they say'When in Rome ….', well when in Montreal,'Eat the Classics'.
There is a reason why this restaurant is famous & it will take a month to get the pounds of wonderful fois gras consumed in every course out of my system!
I love Pieds & will be back EVERY TIME I am in Montreal!
We have been going to Au pied for over a decade whenever we are in Montreal & it has evolved over the years yet maintaining its fabric. We had a few of the staple dishes & some new to us & it was all very good. The service is always prompt yet friendly. We were offered a special of the pigs head & we were abit reluctant but when we saw the other tables order come in we were kicking ourselves for being hesitant. The drinks were also different & innovative & their wine list is like 5 pages long!
Overpriced, good cuisine, service was friendly, but marred by errors & imprecisions. 95% of clients are from outside the island of Montreal as per our waiter. This explains that…
