I went in with mixed expectations, as I know that the border between indulgent QC fare & tourist trap can be muddled. I am so happy with what we got. An attentive but not overbearing service & dishes mostly on the memorable side. Highlights: foie gras terrine to moan for, great duck tartare, & all the mains: great halibut, otrageous & delicious stuffed pig hoof (a beast of a dish) & delicious pork sirloin. Great use of seasonal mushrooms. Desserts were moreish even after the generous portions of the pork mains.
Less impressive: the foie gras nigiri was taken over by the ponzu sauce, & the razor clams were not uniform in cooking but eh, still nice.
Recommended for whoever is looking for Quebecoise indulgence as advertised by that Bourdain documentary. I am sure there are other venues that provide it, but this one is accessible & its reputation is justified. Stick to seafood if fat turns you off.
What an incredible dining experience! The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, the service was great, & the food... just wow. The foie gras poutine & duck in a can were rich, decadent, & absolutely unforgettable! Definite must-tries. I'll definitely be coming back!

If you're into foie gras or creative French cuisine, this place is an absolute must.
It's been around forever, & the quality has always been top-notch. Every time I visit Montreal - whether for vacation or work - this spot is on my must-eat list.
I was a bit sad they no longer serve their signature foie gras + mapo tofu dish (which was wild & amazing), but their foie gras sushi & foie gras pâté with bread have never disappointed. They also have seasonal specials that are always worth trying - full of flavor & really well-balanced.
Just make sure to book a table in advance through their website - walk-ins are tough any day of the week. After dinner, take a stroll around the area - the vibe is perfect for a slow, happy walk after a great meal.

One of the best meals I've had in a really long time. I didn't know I liked foie this much, but that's probably because I've never had anything as high quality as was served to me during our meal! Definitely coming back here when I'm in Montréal again.

Dining at Au Pied de Cochon was an unforgettable experience. We started with the poters, & for our mains, we had the famous Canned Duck & the Rossini mushroom steak with foie gras. Both were absolutely phenomenal - rich, decadent, & bursting with flavor.
I was initially skeptical about the canned duck (it just sounded unusual), but our waiter explained that it's cooked & sealed in-house & happens to be their most popular dish. I'm so glad we took the chance - it ended up being the star of the night. The foie gras on the lions main mushroom steak was melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
I'd heard this was the place to go for foie gras in Montreal, & it did not disappoint. If you're in the city & looking for an indulgent, unique dining experience, don't skip this place. Totally worth the splurge!

Time after time, Au Pied de Cochon delivers. The food is classic yet imaginative, the staff is friendly & energetic & the drinks are a perfect pairing. The food, as always, was delicious. Thanks to Michael, Theo, Robert & the rest of the team!!
La nourriture était très bonne. Cependant à l'arrivée, nous avons du attendre 30 minutes avant de recevoir notre table que nous avions réservé. Le service était très lent. Pas de geste commercial malgré l'attente longue.
as always a great experience at PDC, food was excellent, & the staff was super attentive, & our server made a couple of suggestions for us, & both were perfect, & took us into some areas we hadn't gone before..Always a treat to go here, & this time did not disappoint..

I really enjoyed this place. I find every dishes of the meal was great, rich, complex & perfectly created. I love the fries so much. Its the simple thing but they just made it perfectly fine.. it covered with salt & maple sugar. We also ordered the temaki which is really amazing.. crunchy & yummy. The foie gras nigiri were delicious, i love it.
The duck in the can is good but i dont really enjoy it much since they are too much fat & its a bit chewy. ( just my personal opinion) still the taste is complex & good.

Air conditioner didn't work front of house. It was very hot & humid that day & harder to breathe. Food is very flavourful & meals can be for 2 people. Recommend doing 1 duck dish & a pasta or fish dish to balance the richness from the duck dishes.
Everything is delicious & has the layer of taste. What i like most is the fondant dessert. Duck in a can seem to be the must thing to try but we like it the least because it is a bit oily for us. We mentioned in our reservation that we came here to celebrate our anniversary & the server really made something for us on the dessert part. Thanks for that. Overall. It's a good experience.
OH MY WORD!! My first night visiting Montreal & I was able to snag a spot at the bar. The bartender made me a nice off menu mocktail & I had some really good locally sourced sparkling water. I ordered the duck tartare & the foie gras poutine - which is a must move for first timers! The duck tartare was served sushi style with crispy potato bits & wrapped in seaweed. Best to eat with your hands. Delicious! The main delight for me was the foie gras poutine. It was like nothing I've ever experienced before. There are two different sauces that go so well together & the cheese curds are cut slightly longer on the bottom. The fries were perfectly crisp & the foie gras had a lovely char to it. Everything works so perfectly together & I was beyond joyed for my specific life choices that brought me to this heavenly dish. Thank you so much, Au Pied de Cochon!! I'm gonna see if I can make a reservation to come back this week ☺?
Restaurant chaleureux, une équipe accueillante & souriante. La nourriture est extraordinaire. Le chef était vraiment gentil & disponible. Tout était parfait. C'était la première fois pour nous & sûrement pas la dernière, je recommande fortement.
Juste wow. La qualité de la nourriture. Tout etait parfait. Nous avons passer une très belle soirée.
