About

Arthurs Nosh Bar serves a refined menu rooted in traditional Jewish culinary staples reimagined for a contemporary palate. The kitchen focuses on precision, producing house-cured gravlax, perfectly balanced potato latkes, and substantial sandwiches built on dense, freshly baked challah. Seasonal vegetable-forward salads provide crisp, vibrant textures that contrast against the richness of their signature smoked meat platters. The atmosphere is defined by an understated aesthetic that emphasizes functionality, featuring minimalist tables and high-contrast finishes. Ingredients are sourced to maintain consistency in complex dishes like schnitzel or matzo ball soup, ensuring every plate adheres to established standards. Patrons experience a direct, no-nonsense approach to classic comfort food that prioritizes the integrity of each component. This establishment operates with a focused intensity, delivering high-quality, recognizable dishes served with efficiency and meticulous culinary attention.

Review Summary

Arthurs Nosh Bar is widely celebrated as one of the premier brunch destinations in Montreal, particularly renowned for its exceptional cottage cheese pancakes, the Latke Smorgasbord, and the McArthur sandwich. Visitors consistently praise the vibrant, nostalgic atmosphere and the high quality of the fresh, flavorful dishes. While many diners highlight the warm and accommodating service provided by the staff, experiences regarding wait times and pacing can be inconsistent due to the restaurant's immense popularity and its no-reservation policy. Although some guests find the environment noisy, the prices on the higher side, or the coffee selection limited, the majority of patrons find the culinary experience to be memorable and well worth the visit.

This is a place I wish I could bring my Grandma Sylvia. She would have absolutely freaked her beak over the most gorgeous platter of lox I've ever seen-beautifully presented & every bit as delicious as it looked.

The thick wedge of challah, rich & tender, felt like something from another era. & the stout cottage cheese pancakes, blanketed in maple syrup, were the kind of dish that makes conversation stop for a moment so everyone at the table can simply appreciate what's happening.

It's a feast in the truest sense of the word-abundant, joyful, & meant to be shared. May they be fruitful & multiply.

C'est bon, ça révolutionne pas le pancake, c'est pas le meilleur que j'ai goûté, mais il était bon. Vous ne serez pas déçu si vous voulez bien manger, mais serez déçus si vous chercher quelque chose d'exceptionnel

Best brunch on the island & its not even close. Get a Caesar & either the salami sandwich or the McArthur sandwich (cutlet) & get the syrnikis to share (although I can never decide whether the ricotta is better off standing on its own or if adding the bananas is worth it).

(Dealing with the wait time for a table: usually I wouldn't, but this place is that good… go across the street to browse Librarie Saint-Henri & you can also grab a coffee at either Campanelli or Bar Bara, where you can even grab an aperitif if the brunch is gonna be boozy anyway.)

Visited from Toronto to try this place after hearing so much about it. Arrived around 3 PM & ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food. After waiting we asked to cancel our order, but the manager told us the wait is usually around 25 minutes. Unfortunately, we had already been waiting that long & still didn't have our food, so we decided to stay & wait it out.

Our waitress was great & kindly took our drinks off the bill, which was appreciated. The food was good, but not worth the long wait. Overall, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

I had been hearing great things about Arthur's Nosh Bar for a long time, so I was excited to finally give it a try. The interior was one of the highlights for me-the décor is very close to my personal style, with a warm, charming bistro atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home.

We arrived on a Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. & were the first people on the waiting list, but it still took about 25 minutes to get seated. We placed our order pretty quickly, but the food took another 20-25 minutes to arrive.

Since the kitchen is open, the noise from dishes being collected & stacked carried into the dining area. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did make the space feel a bit louder than expected. Our table was also right beside a narrow walkway, so people were constantly brushing past us, which wasn't the most comfortable seating location.

That said, the food was excellent. The French toast was delicious, & the portion size was perfect for one person. I'm particularly sensitive to the smell of eggs, & I was pleasantly surprised that the eggs were fresh & had no unpleasant odor at all.

Unfortunately, their espresso machine was out of service that day, so the coffee wasn't quite what I had hoped for.

Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. The food quality & beautiful atmosphere outweighed the minor inconveniences, & I would definitely come back-next time, I'd just ask for a different table. 😊☕🥞🍳

Had a good brunch here with a group of 3- the service rating is low because of an almost 2 hr wait to be seated after being told at the door it would be 45min (followed by a txt that it would actually be 60min). I had the Shakshuka which was well balanced & amazingly flavored - all my friends wanted a bite. We also shared a Syrniki which was sweet & filling. The malt vinegar fries were also great- crispy & the vinegar balanced out the salt. Overall I would consider coming again but the unpredictable wait time is something to consider.
