The kitchen focuses on precision, producing house-cured gravlax, perfectly balanced potato latkes, and substantial sandwiches built on dense, freshly baked challah. Seasonal vegetable-forward salads provide crisp, vibrant textures that contrast against the richness of their signature smoked meat platters. The atmosphere is defined by an understated aesthetic that emphasizes functionality, featuring minimalist tables and high-contrast finishes. Ingredients are sourced to maintain consistency in complex dishes like schnitzel or matzo ball soup, ensuring every plate adheres to established standards. Patrons experience a direct, no-nonsense approach to classic comfort food that prioritizes the integrity of each component. Food & service were 5 star as usual but the chairs are not comfortable & could be made comfortable witj the simple addition of seat cushions.

Went to Arthur's for brunch with my family yesterday & had such a great experience! Our waitress Chloe was so sweet, attentive & welcoming. I even got to speak a little Hebrew with her, which made it feel even more like home. The Moroccan toast was AMAZING! Such a warm Jewish/Montreal vibe, we'll definitely be back!

Best brunch in the city

My three friends & I had been wanting to try Arthur's Nosh Bar for years. It's such a popular & iconic Montreal spot, so we were genuinely excited to finally go. Unfortunately, our first experience didn't live up to the hype.

The food was good, but overall not'wow' - with one major exception: the farmer's cheese pancakes were phenomenal & easily the highlight of the meal.

The service, however, was painfully slow, which was surprising considering we arrived at 9 AM. We wanted to try a little of everything, so our server suggested bringing the pancakes out first to spread it out, followed by the rest of our order. Great idea - except it didn't happen. We waited close to an hour, & the pancakes eventually arrived… along with everything else. & the food wasn't hot; both the pancakes & waffles were cold when they reached our table.

Our first coffee was also lukewarm & had to be replaced with hot coffee - particularly surprising that early in the morning. Worse, when we poured the cream, we noticed some kind of dried, crusty residue lining the inside of the creamer. One of my friends actually gagged when she saw it. & literally all of the sugar packets in the container were empty... So bizarre.

Our server was very nice & friendly, but unfortunately not attentive. We had to flag her down a few times, & even getting our bill took forever.

There was an overall lack of urgency. Despite a substantial lineup outside, tables weren't being cleared particularly quickly. You'd expect a little more hustle from such a busy, in-demand restaurant.

We really wanted to love Arthur's, especially after looking forward to trying it for so long. Sadly, between the extremely slow service, cleanliness issue with the creamer, & food that - aside from those fantastic pancakes - didn't blow us away, the overall experience was disappointing. Considering the 40 min drive & how early we had to get there to avoid the lineup, it's not one we'd make the trip for again.

Place anglophone, on a l'impression d'être dans le ROC ou aux USA. Bof, je laisse la place aux touristes & aux anglos.

I love brunch, & I've tried brunch spots across Canada including a few cities in BC, Calgary, Toronto & Montreal, & as of right now this is in my top 3 places to go for brunch in Canada.

It is the best place to get brunch in Montreal (I've tried other so-called good brunch spots in Montreal & wasn't impressed).

The lovely decor & atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing & definitely a bonus. There was a bit of a wait for brunch on the weekend in the afternoon, but the service was good & the staff were good about staying on top of managing the wait-list.

The quality & packaging of the food was good even when I ordered via delivery.

Edit: Service has surprisingly gotten significantly worse vs four years ago. The hand-offs between getting orders, serving food & getting the bill were sloppy. Despite there being a long line of people waiting to get inside, we waited 20 min to get our bill, & only got it because I ended up getting up to find our waitress. Had the servers been attentive & given us our bill when we finished, they could've cleared our table & seated other customers in that time period.

It's painfully obvious that tables are being turned slowly because staff members have poor coordination, poor communication skills & need to keep better tabs on their sections. Staff members are weirdly uncooperative & hostile towards the idea of helping each other (I had flagged another server who was helping to clear/set up tables in our section & instead of getting us our bill or alerting the waitress in charge of our section, she did nothing).
