Review Summary

Améa Café is widely praised for its stunning, spacious, and Mediterranean-inspired design, making it a popular destination for working, studying, or socializing in downtown Montreal. Many visitors highlight the high quality and beautiful presentation of the pastries, with several specific items like the shakshuka and unique croissants frequently receiving acclaim. While the ambiance and aesthetic are consistent favorites, reviews are mixed regarding the food consistency, portion sizes, and pricing. Service experiences vary, as the fast-paced, counter-order system can lead to long wait times or logistical challenges during busy periods. Despite some comments about noise levels, inconsistent ingredient quality, and occasional difficulties in securing seating, the cafe remains a highly recommended spot for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse menu.

Beautiful study spot with amazing food to get me through finals. It's a bit pricey, but so is everything nowadays. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous & all the pastries looked incredible! I came on a Sunday just after opening & stayed all day until closing at 3. The place was packed the whole time!

I had the shakshouka. The crispy chickpeas & pomegranate seeds on top really put this over the top. So so delicious & very filling.

This place has its own unique atmosphere, delicious cuisine & pastries. It is a good place to work on your laptop or spend time with a friend. Sometimes it's too busy & noisy so not very comfortable to talk.

The place is nice, the server was friendly, the pastry good. My only issue is that it's a very popular space to work & my friend was looking for a place to plug in his laptop. There are three tables like this with plugs on the top, but then we noticed that the tables aren't connected to anything so the plugs don't work, which is weird.

However, I also saw a woman with her tiny dog sitting there & everything that I've seen says that Québec law forbids dogs inside eating establishments unless it's a service dog, & I saw this woman walking her dog before finding a place to sit

mea Café is one of those polished, design-forward café-restaurants that leans more toward a'high-end cafeteria' than a traditional coffee shop. Located inside the historic Maison Alcan, the space is a standout: large, bright, with high ceilings & a refined, almost architectural feel.

The food is Mediterranean-inspired, with a menu that goes beyond pastries-Roman-style pizzas, salads, vegetable dishes, & brunch plates. Execution is generally strong, with good ingredient quality & clean presentation. Pastries & desserts are a highlight, although consistency can vary depending on the item.

Service is casual (order at the counter, food brought to table), & the place is clearly optimized for a mix of use cases: quick lunch, informal meetings, or working sessions.
