The jerk chicken tacos is probably the best food we've ever had. Service was attentive & friendly. Atmosphere of this place is really great. Cocktails, food, & atmosphere make you feel like you are in an upscale luxury restaurant. Everything is made very fresh & the tapas style menu is a perfect way to try everything because everything is truly delicious. Will recommend this place to any & everyone, it's a hidden gem.
Visiting from NYC & was hoping to have some Caribbean food on our last night in Montreal.
Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. The service was extremely slow & unorganized. We waited about an hour just to receive our drinks & about an hour & a half for our food.
When the food finally arrived, the portions were very small for what we were expecting. My oxtail came with a small scoop of rice & only about four pieces of oxtail, & unfortunately, the oxtail was extremely salty. My sister-in-law said the jerk chicken was good, & my husband enjoyed the Rasta pasta, so there were a couple of positives.
The service was the biggest issue. Our food was initially brought to another table, placed in front of them, & then picked back up & brought over to us. Everything just seemed very disorganized. There also appeared to be people who were hanging out at the restaurant helping serve food, which was a little concerning.
Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially considering how long we waited. The restaurant has potential, but the service & organization definitely need improvement.
We will never be back but wishing the best to the restaurant.
Few weeks ago I went here. I had come from Ottawa for a concert down the road. The food was incredible! I did takeout but definitely took in the atmosphere inside was lovely. I got the goat but wanted to try the jerk chicken. A lovey server, Theo, suggested I get the pizza with jerk on top. Its was sooo delicious! Will def be back to have that pizza again!
I visited Alur Restaurant today & had an amazing experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is incredible, & you can really feel the passion that has gone into creating the Alur experience. The food was outstanding, & the jerk chicken was absolutely amazing-full of flavor & cooked perfectly. The cocktails were also excellent & added to an already great night.
As a General Manager at a restaurant in the West Island, I tend to pay close attention to service & staff when I dine out. One employee who really stood out was Shaq. Throughout the entire evening, I saw him constantly working clearing dishes, cleaning, setting tables, helping wherever he was needed, & keeping things running smoothly. Every time I looked around, he was moving & contributing.
What impressed me most was his positive attitude, professionalism, & work ethic. Employees like that make a huge difference in a restaurant, & I think it's important that he knows his hard work is being noticed by guests. In this industry, people often hear complaints but not enough compliments, & Shaq deserves recognition for the effort he puts in.
I was honestly so impressed that I even told him that if he ever wanted a different opportunity, I would be happy to have him join my team. That's how highly I think of his attitude & dedication.
The entire team did a fantastic job, & this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I'll definitely be back. Keep up the great work, Alur, & special recognition to Shaq for his dedication, professionalism, & outstanding work ethic.
