A night to pamper yourself with unique Mexican dishes & carefully curated wines. If you are to go, do the 5or7 course meal with the pairings. No other way to do it!
The experience was great but hard to look at the bill at the end. You really have to enjoy artistry & creativity in the food you eat
The restaurant was accommodating as we showed up without a reservation (we had tried contacting them multiple times without any success - we had a gift card & did not want to pay on open table without using our gift card)
The restaurant is cozy & the staff was welcoming.
Overall, the carte blanche menu was good but nothing to write home, especially not for this price. The highlight was the dorade crudo & the granita.
The cocktails (mezcalita & margarita) were too strong to be enjoyable but the wine that was recommended during our meal was great.
We did feel full with 11 services, which was one of our worries about smaller portions.
We had been to Alma twice prior to its revamp, & had a fantastic experience, but this time didn't live up to the expectations.
We had an amazing experience at Alma! The restaurant has a great atmosphere in a sweet neighbourhood. The service was impeccable - the staff were incredibly hospitable & attentive. We opted for the nine-course tasting menu with wine pairings, & every single dish was outstanding, the wine truly amazing. It was such a nice touch to hear the story behind each course. It was perfect for a special occasion!
Great experience, one of a kind restaurant. Each plate had a unique flavor profile & made us travel. Presentation is also gorgeous & almost everything was delicious (we were less fan of the soup thing as the corn dumplings were very thick & pasty). The service was friendly & the waitress provided interesting presentation of the restaurant & dishes. On the constructive side it was a bit long for dinner to start (about 50 minutes between the time we arrived & received our first service) especially considering you select your meal at time of the reservation so there is nothing to order once there. But after that the rhythm of service was perfect. The wine list is quite limited & very expensive compared to many other restaurants (about. $95 min for a bottle of wine…). It would benefit from having more options especially since the cocktail menu is also very limited. But overall we really enjoyed our evening & would definitely recommend.
We came on a Thursday at 6pm so it was pretty quiet. We had a really great experience. I read a lot of mixed reviews & wasn't sure what to expect. Yes it's expensive yes the portions are fairly small. But the food was very very good, the people were really nice & not pretentious what so ever (easy to come across in the high end restaurants). The ambiance was nice. Wine was good! I didn't do the full pairing more just did 1/2 glasses as it made sense. I would come back & certainly recommend to others
What an amazing meal. The plates were so light & fresh. My wife had an amazing vegan friendly meal. The dessert she had with a coconut yogurt & berries was memorable & Something I've been tasked to remake. Im in Spain several times a year & I can say whomever is funding their wines is really doing an amazing job go find the best. Our server was such a charming young lady. I can totally understand why this restaurant has so quickly became a top 30 location in Canada. Sorry I didn't take any photos. I'll be back for sure!
Exceptional food tasting experience. Every dish was a hit & they have a great wine menu.
Spent 700$ for 2 people on full menu (9 courses plus wine pairings). Left drunk & hungry. Portions so tiny, my stomach was just sloshing with alcohol.
Was the food tasty? Sure. Would I come back to Alma? No. If I'm spending that much money to walk away hungry, there are much better options in Montreal to spend 700$ for 2 people.
We had the carte blanche with the wine pairing. Beautiful plating & well executed textures but many dishes lacked depth of flavour & spice. The tacos de setas & their signature seabream crudo were the standout dishes.
The selection of Catalan wines was interesting, though several pairings didn't quite complement the dishes as well as expected.
The experience was one of a kind, unique. The staff were very knowledgeable & answered questions. Their ability to pair wines with the food was fantastic. A wonderful experience, 10/10 would recommend.
