The legend about Alfa's poutine is true. We had to make a stop at Alfa while exploring Quebec, & all the hype surrounding their poutine definitely lived up to expectations. They absolutely load up on the cheese curds like, loads & loads. Lactose intolerant people, look away.

The fries were crispy, the gravy was savory, & the portion was huge. The gravy was a little salty for my taste, but my wife really enjoyed it. & with that mountain of cheese curds on top, you definitely get your money's worth. Big portions, lots of food, & easy on the wallet.

We also tried their deli sandwich. It wasn't bad & was something different to try while we were there.

One important thing to know: they're cash only. Bring cash because the day we went, their ATM was out of service.

It does get busy, but the line moves pretty quickly, so don't let the crowd scare you away.

Overall, if you're in Quebec & looking for a seriously loaded, affordable poutine, Alfa is definitely worth checking out.

Great price & portions, best poutine I've had in montreal, & I've tried 8 places. The cheese curds are SQUEAKY! & the fries are perfectly golden & my favorite texture of being a tad soft.

Surprising but I also LOVED the burger!!!! They use pickled cabbage/coleslaw instead of the typical lettuce & it was spectacular. I will say the bun can get a little soggy.

I'd skip the Michigan hot dog, its a big sloppy mess & the bun cannot handle the sauce. The hotdog itself is also not great.

Amazing poutine with real fresh sqeaky cheese curds. Staff was super kind & helpful. Atmosphere is pretty dated, & the washroom is desparate for some upgrades to get it functional...

Been coming to this place for more than 20 years & will make a detour to come here. In my opinion, best poutine there is in Montreal, the service is fast, food is fresh & quantities are generous. I don't think I've ever seen them measure the curd cheese here for their poutine!!;
When there a lineup, it goes fast, always plenty of very nice staff behind the counter!
Love this place soooo much!!!

Alpha Hot-Dog has a mountain of reviews for a reason. Even with a weekday line out the door, the operation is efficient & moves fast.

The Breakdown:

The Poutine: Top-tier. They don't skimp on the cheese curds, & the gravy-to-fry ratio is spot on.

The Sides: Both the fries & the onion rings hold their own-crispy, well-seasoned, & fresh.

Value: Portions are heavy for the price point.

It's rare for a spot with this much noise to actually deliver on the fundamentals, but Alpha hits the mark

Busy, which is an good sign. But that leads to timing issues. My poutine was ready & waiting more than 5 minutes before my hot dogs. The staff was friendly, despite being busy.
The poutine was really good, a bit too much cheese for my taste, but I'm probably in the minority. It was huge for the regular size. The hot dogs were good, standard Québec steamies. The cabbage was a bit sweet, which was unexpected, but really good. Overall, I'd definitely go back.

Their poutine was awesome! I wanted to try it after seeing great recommendations on Reddit from locals, & it totally lived up to the hype. We got their classic poutine, which was super tasty, & the portion was huge with tons of cheese curds. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for an authentic classic poutine.

Only complaint is too many cheese curds, & that's not a bad thing.

The sauce they're famous for is worth the hype, the only issue is the hype is real & there's a big line.
