Review Summary

Reviews for 5 Senses depict a visually striking, quirky space with artful decor and a welcoming vibe that many visitors find worth the trip for atmosphere and brunch, though experiences are highly variable. The food ranges from excellent and flavorful to disappointing and overpriced, with some dishes such as the Van Gogh panini and certain crepes receiving praise while others fall flat or feel generic. Service is described as friendly and attentive by some, but slow, distracted, or inconsistent by others, particularly after ownership changes that some say have dulled the former flair and energy. The interior and ambiance are repeatedly highlighted as a draw, making it a destination for local color and socializing, yet several reviews note long waits, mismatched portion sizes, or prices that do not always align with quality. Taken together, 5 Senses delivers memorable decor and variety, but consistency and value appear uneven across visits.

My friend & I went for coffee yesterday. No prices on the menus which wasn't a great start considering a small flat white came to 8.50. Not to mention it was terribly made (practically a cup of milk). After ordering, despite the place looking empty, the one server there decided to wait 10 minutes before even starting to make it. Don't let the fun decor fool you - it's was a disappointing experience.

sat down & took our time to look at the menu. one of the workers came to tell us that it was a place to eat only & not drink coffee & work. while tons of other tables were drinking & not eating. didnt used to be like this.

This place was pretty, but I wouldn't recommend & won't come back.
The photo is showing what $70 ($80 with tip) worth of food (plus a $4.50 drip coffee not on the photo) gets you there.
The $12 soups were pretty good (but $12!!) & the $17 paninis tasted… well pretty much how they look.
You are in Montreal, you can find better food for a fraction of the price.

It's obvious the place changed ownership. Even though the menu stayed the same, the quality has dropped significantly. It took them an hour to bring me my sandwich, & the place was empty. On top of that, my chicken sandwich had more tomato & lettuce than actual chicken.

That said, the place is still cozy & a nice spot to grab a coffee & chat with a friend.

The coffee is good
The smoothies are made of actual fruits (I think)
The deco is cuuuuteeee but me & my friends felt like we were in a simulation. All NPC. All decoration is props
The service took forever & we were alone in the shop with them.
Asked for a chai latte & barista was confused ash
Went in the back for so long. we don't know what there is… Magic tricks?✨💫

I really wanted to try the food in this restaurant, but unfortunately I was disappointed. The food was OK, but drinks was horrible. Coffee & matcha taste like a water. I requested all drinks without sugar, but dirty chai impossible to drink ( taste just like sugar). Not worth the money unfortunately.

Nice cozy spot, went for a little coffee & sweet break but the place had lots of options food wise. From main dishes to panini & crepes, mixed type of cuisine but they looked pretty good, will stop again for a lunch or dinner next time.

Went for breakfast on a Friday morning & was disappointed with the service. The cafe was not very busy & it took around 40 minutes for our breakfast. & was about 15 minutes before they even noticed we hadn't received our black drip coffee yet. The menu sounds amazing, but I don't think the staff are capable of even making many of the things on the menu. The avocado toast was horrible, unseasoned with cold, soft bread. A sense of urgency would be good here. The music & overall ambiance is amazing, the art in the restaurant is stunning, however some of the things hanging could use a good dusting.

The food, for the price, is phenomenal. Especially the sandwiches, baked goods, & café. The atmosphere/vibes is impeccable. I feel like this is the only place where you drink: eat breakfast, lunch, dinner & dessert, & drink coffee or wine, go on a casual date, study, or hangout, all at one location. Music is good too.

The most underrated restaurant in Montreal!!! Everything here is amazing, the food is delicious they have breakfast lunch & dinner, the vibes are immaculate, the decor is so cool & the music is fun & chill. Masha served us & was super nice. Will be recommending this place to everyone I know. We got the Van Gogh panini & New York crepe & the portions were generous, cost us less than 20$ per person with coffee & a smoothie!

Very cute place but poor service The space where you want to come back to, an atmosphere is AMAZING, various menu(including ukrainian pierogi & pelmeni) really good food & big portions but you gotta be realy to wait your order 30-40 min even if it's not busy. Not the "bistro" speed We've been there 3 times during our stay in Montreal. Ordered just coffee to go at first & waited for it around 20 mins At the second time cafe was crowded & busy but we got our food really fast)& then at the third time food took 40 min ish (crepe) & coffee even longer but they didn't ask if it's hot or cold & made iced coffee instead of hot ones(( Remade then. Crepes & lemonades were delicious but glass wasn't clean... Cute sounds of birds in the washroom tho✨🦜

This was such a cute, cozy, & cool place to get food. I wasn't a fan of their rice but the carbonara, sandwich, pasta salad, & the highlight of the day were the crepes!! They were amazing! The coffee was really good too. It was just too hot inside! But everything else was nice!

Generally bland food & coffee with an aggressively unhelpful attitude in nice decor. If you do go, the pancakes were good. Owner (if I am correct in who she was) seems nice but the staff is awful. I knew something might be off when we saw the unabashed use of Costco branded salt shakers on the tables. Hard to imagine that what you don't see will be good if what you *do* see shows a lack of concern for details. But the general decor was warm & funky.... & it was raining. So we stayed. No tables were clean so I asked for a napkin to clean my own table. We got one napkin. I asked again. I got one more...As if they were on ration. Silverware didn't arrive with the food & then took 5 minutes to arrive after the food. Muffin was dry & bland. As was the shakshuka. At least the Pain au chocolat & pancakes were good when they finally arrived. We asked for water. There was none available. Was told to wait 5 minutes. 10 minutes later we are still waiting. With so many great restaurants in Montreal, zero reason to go here.

The food was excellent. Coffee some of the best I had in Montreal this trip. Had breakfast here...great variety on the plate - baguette so good, wonderful cheese & confiture. Huge selection. Eclectic & funky atmosphere. We'd have gone here often if didn't discover on our last day in Montreal!
