I came here with my in-laws 2 days ago & forgot to leave a review.
To keep it short, food was delicious, we came for the lunch service & ended up leaving very satisfied. General Tao was great however portions could be a tad bit bigger for the teriyaki beef, the flavor makes up for it though. Service was nice although sometimes a little too chatty, but where is the harm in that? We will certainly be back.
Very slow on bringing out the food & orders were always incomplete. Service is passable a best. No dedicated hostess. Had to wait for 3-4 tables to pay before the person at he front could get me a table. Choices were very limited as well.
I visited this restaurant with my 5 children during after seeing good reviews online. Our family is visiting from Toronto & this restaurant is an hour away from our hotel.
The drive was well worth it!
The general tao chicken was perfectly cooked, seasoned & so flavourful. I also really enjoyed the chicken udon which was very well prepared & flavourful.
My husband loved the teriyaki beef & all of my kids loved the salmon & cucumber sushi.
Highly recommend this restaurant it's by far the best we have tried during our vacation & it rivals other restaurants in Toronto also serving halal chinese food.
Honestly i didnt check the reviews before coming , big mistake, this place was opened just a couple months ago , they have a lot to learn if they want to stay in the business…
First off THERES NO SERVICE right away as soon as you come in they told us 'if u order something else thats not sushi it might not take too long but sushi takes some time' we were like mmmh okay we been to at least 10 places in the past with my partner & never ever we been told that , but is okay we smiled & we said no problem. We asked for maybe 5 plates of sushi , they took such a long time to bring the sushi it was at least 15 minutes from plate to plate & we talking about a plate of 5 sushis… & when we ask whats going on is not normal to wait so long they told us just to wait because we been told that it takes some time etc etc , we were in a place of the restaurant where the servers & bus boys past by all the time , NO ONE took the empty plates from our table after so long & we have to bring it ourselves, honestly if you plan to pay more than 40 dollars for something like this save ur money & go to an actual sushi all you can eat , where they actually deserve they clientele & they serve you good food , this is not the place to go , -10.
Food was pretty decent, but the service ,total disappointment... starting at the door with the hostess (yes, the one with the hijab) 0 manners, 100% attitude.
Then expect to wait hours to maybe get a part of what you order. People ordering a la carte have priority over the'all you can eat' menu, which was the only option they gave us. Do not believe the 5 stars.
I went there on sunday & unfortunately the whole experience was very disappointing.
We waited in line for almost an hour, & when we were finally getting close to the front, an employee came out & told us to come back in about an hour because they apparently didn't have enough food for everyone. I told him it made no sense to let people wait that long before informing us, especially for an all-you-can-eat restaurant.
We decided not to leave & ended up waiting another 30 minutes. What made it even more frustrating was that there were empty tables inside, but they wouldn't let us sit down while waiting because they said they had to prioritize the customers who were already inside.
At some point, an employee told us that because of the unusually long wait & the lack of food, we would receive a discount.
When we finally got in, the food honestly wasn't worth the wait. Some dishes were cold, the overall quality was pretty average, & several things we ordered never came. Considering they had already told us they didn't have enough food, I can only assume that may have been part of the reason.
Then came the biggest surprise. When it was time to pay, the employee who had promised us the discount was no longer there, & the bill came to **$53 per person**. We explained the situation to another employee, & the price was eventually reduced to **$45 per person** because of the promised discount.
Even after the discount, **$45 per person is still well above the $20-30 price range currently listed on Google**. I really wouldn't mind paying that much for a pleasant experience & good-quality food, but considering the 1.5-hour wait, poor organization, food shortage, missing items, & mediocre food, it absolutely did not feel worth the price.
I think there is a lot of hype around this place, but based on my experience, it really didn't live up to it. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it.
My family & I visited twice, & every dish we tried was consistently up to standard. Despite the negative reviews out there, people often forget how difficult it is to run a restaurant, especially during rush hours. Considering that, the food exceeded expectations: every bite was flavorful, portions were filling, & the waiters were patient throughout.
Even with a few minor setbacks (completely normal on busy days) we still received everything we ordered without issue. The atmosphere was inviting, & the modern décor added to the experience. I'd definitely return, especially for the beef teriyaki & General Tao chicken 😋😋
Honestly, I really enjoyed my experience at 1001 Nuits in DDO. The place was very busy, which honestly says a lot about how popular it's become. Ma Sha Allah, you can definitely see that people are coming out to support it.
The General Tao was easily my favourite. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I kept going back for more 😂 I basically spammed the General Tao because it was THAT good. The fried rice was also really good, & I really enjoyed the chicken & beef teriyaki as well. Everything we tried had good flavour & I'd definitely order those dishes again.
The service was decent overall, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. That being said, I think they could improve by having the staff check on tables a little more regularly. There were moments where we had to wait a bit before getting someone's attention.
Overall though, I had a good experience & I'd definitely come back. The food was the highlight for me, especially that General Tao 🔥. It's also nice seeing a busy halal Asian restaurant in DDO ma Shaa Allah! Hopefully they keep improving & continue to grow.
