Invitation from Marianik

Date: February 7th

Dalia, Rébecca, and Chandni all enjoyed an intimate and cozy evening at Name's on the Way, a stylish neighbourhood gem in the Plateau, perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends. The night began with fresh, oversized oysters-a rare treat-paired with a crisp glass of Les Someres, a Spanish white from their private import selection, along with some signature cocktails. The appetizers set the tone, with Dalia loving the filet mignon tartare with potato chips, a nostalgic nod to Portugal, while Chandni was particularly fond of the scallops.

For the main course, the filet mignon with bone marrow butter stole the show-rich, perfectly cooked, and deeply flavourful. Rébecca also enjoyed the comforting bigoli pasta with lamb, though she and Chandni both expected a bolder flavour. The kale salad with anchovies, ricotta salata, and pine nuts added a fresh, well-balanced touch and was a collective favourite.

The night ended on a sweet note, with Chandni savouring every bite of the pouding chômeur with whiskey whipped cream. By the end of the evening, the restaurant was bustling, its dim lighting and warm ambiance making it the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience.

Located in Auberge du Vieux-Port, Gaspar Brasserie blends Parisian charm with a modern Montreal touch. Rébecca loves discovering hotel restaurants-often hidden gems for locals-and Happening Gourmand is the perfect time to do so affordably.

For $59, the evening began with a warm welcome and Le Dahlia, a refined cocktail of Crown Royal, blackcurrant liqueur, lemon, spiced syrup, and rosemary. Invitation from Marianik

Date: February 27th

Rébecca and Chandni had the privilege of attending an exclusive VIP dinner at Lloyd, a rare opportunity with only a few media guests, making the experience even more special. The Franco-Mexican fusion menu crafted by Chef Beatriz Gonzalez had already caught Rébecca's attention, and it did not disappoint.

The evening began with a smoky cocktail and a gordita of lacquered tuna with guava-soy glaze and toasted pumpkin seeds-a perfect balance of sweetness, umami, and crunch. The smoked eel with butternut squash, pomelo, and black sesame delivered a surprising mix of richness and citrusy brightness, delighting Chandni, who had never tried eel before. But it was the potato gnocchi with Beaufort cheese and mole verde espuma that truly stole the show for Rébecca-soft, pillowy, and infused with bold, complex flavours.

For the main course, Rébecca was thrilled to see crispy, melt-in-your-mouth sweetbreads lacquered with tamarind, paired with cacao-infused parsnips and a deep, velvety vin jaune veal jus-a rare and exquisite dish in Montreal. Chandni opted for the wild sea bass with multicoloured radish and burnt hay yogurt, which was equally refined and flavourful.

The meal ended on a high note with a dessert featuring toasted Papantla vanilla mousse, Mexican vanilla ice cream, cacao nibs, a chocolate biscuit, and caramelized pecans-a heavenly mix of textures and delicate sweetness. With her sweet tooth, Chandni found this to be one of the night's highlights.

From start to finish, the experience at Lloyd was nothing short of exceptional-an intimate evening of innovative cuisine, refined flavours, and impeccable hospitality that left a lasting impression.
