Old Montreal is kicking off winter with a festive program that highlights the district's historic charm. Beginning December 1st, the campaign Historique et féérique, presented by the Old Montreal SDC with support from the City of Montreal, brings together a full lineup of holiday events and experiences designed to enhance winter visits in the area.

The initiative unifies the neighbourhood's seasonal offerings, creating an inviting atmosphere filled with lights, culture and culinary delights. Nearly thirty sites will feature winter illuminations, while redesigned outdoor rest areas with fire pits and Adirondack chairs will welcome visitors for a comforting break. A brand new Winter Station near Place Royale will come alive from January to March with music, storytelling activities and a free marshmallow bar every Saturday afternoon.

Throughout December, the district will showcase festive bars (Bar Miracle & Secrets), themed tea rooms (Paparmane) and one of the city's most picturesque decorated alleyways (Pepin Shop) for unforgettable holiday photos. Workshops will be available for crafting Christmas wreaths, learning seasonal mixology or preparing a traditional holiday dessert. Signature restaurants and heated dome experiences offer memorable dining in a wintry setting.

Culture lovers can enjoy heartwarming concerts at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel and the iconic Notre-Dame Basilica, which will also host Christmas masses accompanied by celebrated musicians. Families will find plenty to enjoy with holiday programming at Pointe-à-Callière Museum and the Château Ramezay, along with guided tours and festive rallies organized by Guidatour. Local creativity will take centre stage at the PHI Holiday Pop up.

The season culminates with the Grand Midnight of Montreal event on December 31st, 2025. Live performances, bright scenography and a thrilling countdown will animate the Old Port and Place Jacques Cartier, offering a joyful way to ring in the new year.

This winter, Old Montreal becomes a magical destination where history and seasonal cheer come together to create unforgettable memories.
