Explore Mount Royal This Winter with Over 50 Themed Hikes

This winter, Mount Royal offers more than fifty themed hikes for all skill levels, from January 2nd to March 14th, 2026. Organized by Les Amis de la montagne, the activities include walking and snowshoeing tours, birdwatching introductions, and trails with stunning city views at dusk.

Featured hikes include:

  • Les oiseaux, c'est chouette!: a 2km easy family hike to identify winter birds, with fun stops at feeders (children from 5 years old, accompanied by an adult).

  • Discovering Mount Royal birds - birdwatching introduction: a 3km hike for participants 12 and older, providing tips to observe and identify winter bird species.

  • A story of tracks: a 2km snowshoe hike exploring the mountain's wildlife through tracks left on the trails (5 years and older).

  • By the city lights: a 3km night hike in snowshoes with breathtaking city views, ending with hot chocolate. Available in French and English for participants 12 and older.

  • A snowy mountain: a 3km snowshoe hike exploring the history of snowshoeing and observing local wildlife and plants (12 years and older).

These outings offer direct contact with nature and are popular among families and outdoor enthusiasts. Early registration is recommended.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
