Discover Quebecs Fall Strawberries and Raspberries
Ad

Fall strawberry and raspberry season is officially underway in Quebec. These flavourful berries are the perfect way to extend summer well into the cooler months, while highlighting the talent of our local producers.

Did you know that Quebec strawberries are available for nearly five months each year thanks to fall varieties? Though still unfamiliar to many, fall strawberries now represent nearly half of the province's annual strawberry production. Planted early in spring, they are harvested from August until the first frost. Fall raspberries also offer generous yields at the end of summer and can produce again the following spring.

These fruits grow on special plants that thrive even as temperatures drop and days shorten. Unlike traditional strawberry plants, fall varieties keep producing beautiful red berries throughout the autumn, allowing markets and grocery stores to stay stocked through October.

Beyond their delicious taste, these berries are packed with health benefits. Just eight strawberries contain as much vitamin C as an orange, all while supporting local agriculture. To enjoy them in the kitchen, the Recettes d'ici website offers over 50 creative recipes featuring Quebec strawberries and raspberries.
