Best smoked meat sandwich! We searched around for the best smoked meat in Montreal & this highly rated Deli showed up. & after going, I completely understand, not only is the smoked meat delicious, the atmosphere, friendliness & heart of the deli shines through! Can't wait to come back :) Came in as strangers, left as friends.
The most charming cozy Deli with the most charming lovely lady at the counter, Angel who makes you feel right at home, all the while having the atmosphere & character that makes you feel like you're right in Kiev at the same time, I had the special of the day which was smoked meat & Hungarian sausage with cheese, a delicious charming bite perfect for any students or worker from the areas lunch break with a nice big slice of delicious homemade peach cheesecake that made me understand why the lady at the counter's name is Angel because everything I had from here brought me a little closer to heaven. Would recommend to anyone who has the chance to go & support a local family institution that's been going strong for over half a century! Slava!
Délicieux sandwichs, & que dire du cheesecake à la pêche! Le service est toujours très sympathique, même lorsque la toute petite boutique se transforme en longue file d'attente.
Pour les fans de gâteau forêt noire, on y trouve notamment des cerises griottes en conserve & fraîches congelées.
Angel was so helpful & able to make over 30 delicious sandwiches in less than 20 minutes to satisfy out touring rugby team from the UK. Made the boys day at a cost that suited the budget. Six stars.
Lovely neighborhood delli! Authentic & charming with such a friendly owner! The smoked meat sandwich is one of the best ever tried! There is a wide range of Ukrainian delights not to be missed. Will be back again!

Sandwich délicieux a très bon prix. La propriétaire est très sympathique & offre un service de qualité. Un petit commerce de quartier qui vaut la peine & qu'il faut encourager!
The smoked meat tasted decent but lacked the tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality I was hoping for; instead, it felt chewy & reminded me of a hot dog, which was disappointing. The bread was slightly dry, failing to enhance the sandwich experience. While the deli offers a respectable selection, it doesn't compare to the renowned Schwartz's, which clearly remains the gold standard in the local deli scene.
Great little bakery/deli with the sweetest old lady working but I've been there a few times where it says it is open on google & when I get there it is closed. Makes it hard to plan visits.
What an amazing deli! We had the hot smoked meat sandwich & it was incredible. Great selection of deli meats kolbasa & Ukrainian treats. The woman who served us was delightful. 10/10, we will be back the next time we visit Montreal.
Went in for a smoked meat sandwich & left very satisfied. Probably the best one I've ever had & the egg bread it was served on was delicious. The server was super friendly & a delight to chat to whilst I waited! 100% will return when next here
À quelques enjambées du croisement entre le Boulevard Saint-Michel & la rue Beaubien Est se gîte l'épicerie fine ukrainienne désormais centenaire Zytynsky's. Percée simplement d'une porte sur la poignée de laquelle est suspendue une cloche, sa façade est une muraille de briques. C'est à se demander pourquoi les architectes de l'époque n'ont pas retenu l'option d'y incruster une baie. Un présentoir circulaire au sommet duquel veille un ange auréolé expose des produits aux noms peu évocateurs pour la plupart d'entre nous, mais fort intrigants. Que diriez-vous d'un bon sac de Baygle ? Ou encore, une boîte de ces fameux Krowkowy ? Il ne fait aucun doute qu'ils font la joie d'une grande communauté qui y retrouve moult délices d'une autre vie, au même titre que l'aménité multigénérationnelle qui singularise l'endroit & ses patrons. Une femme aux cheveux noirs se terminant par une queue de cheval mauve s'enthousiasmait à l'idée de mettre la main sur diverses tranches de viande tandis qu'elle papotait avec la fille du propriétaire, maniant le hachoir avec l'assurance de l'expérience. Leurs échanges, parsemés de plaisanteries sur des thèmes familiaux, témoignent d'une relation qui s'est forgée au fil des années. Je me sens moi aussi d'humeur à faire un brin de jasette & je me retourne vers la dame âgée en file derrière moi. - Je vous entendais soupirer. Si vous voulez, vous pouvez passer devant moi. - Oh ! Non, je ne suis pas pressée. Je suis censée être à la retraite. Par son choix du mot « censé », j'en ai conclu que, hypothétiquement, les préparatifs de Noël devaient être à sa charge cette année. Vint enfin mon tour & je prends leur sandwich européen « à la façon d'autrefois » : tranches de viande, moutarde & fromage. La commis-assistante me suggère de repartir avec une boîte de beignes aux dattes, vantant leur succès général. « J'en mange tout le temps », ajoutera-t-elle par la suite. Je lui en sais gré, car les beignes sont tout à fait moelleux & goûteux ! Le sandwich, quant à lui, constitue un repas rapide bien satisfaisant. Cependant, par cette charmante visite dans ce vénérable établissement, je me suis procuré quelque chose de plus précieux qu'une bonne bouffe : du contentement au coeur.
