I've been buying coffee from Zab for years & live in the neighbourhood, so it's really disappointing to leave this review. The coffee itself is genuinely good, but the way customers are treated is not acceptable.
On multiple occasions, I noticed staff refusing to speak French to non-white customers while readily speaking French with white customers. The difference in treatment is impossible to ignore & feels deeply disrespectful & exclusionary. As someone who has supported this business for years, these experiences have made it clear that not everyone is treated equally here.
Montréal is diverse, & customers should not feel judged or treated differently based on how they look. Unfortunately, because of these experiences, I will not be returning. I'm sharing this so other people are aware & can make informed decisions about where they spend their money.

I've been ordering coffee from as many Canadian roasters as I can for the past 1.5+ years, & Zab is the one I keep coming back to, & my'daily driver'. I can confidently say it is one of the, if not the best, out there. Great quality, consistent roasts, unique flavours, & super-fast shipping, great for espresso (which I use Zab for daily) & pour-over, local to Montreal, etc. etc. Could not recommend Zab more, I even gift this coffee as often an I can 😂. Petit endroit relaxe pour prendre un café. Simple & authentique. Sauf que j'aurais aimé plus d'écoute & de meilleurs conseils pour le choix du café pour ma cafetière. J'ai eu de meilleurs conseils en parlant à l'entrepôt. Le café est excellent & de Grande qualité.
