About

Vien Dong specializes in authentic Vietnamese culinary traditions, focusing on the careful preparation of aromatic pho broths and fresh spring rolls. The menu highlights a diverse selection of traditional noodle soups featuring various cuts of beef, meatballs, and fresh herbs sourced for optimal flavor. Patrons find an extensive array of stir-fried dishes paired with steamed jasmine rice or vermicelli noodles, incorporating crisp vegetables and savory proteins. The preparation emphasizes the balance of salty, sweet, sour, and spicy elements characteristic of Southeast Asian cooking techniques. Each dish is served with traditional condiments such as hoisin sauce, chili paste, and lime wedges to allow for personalized seasoning. The interior environment remains functional and straightforward, ensuring that the culinary output remains the primary focus for every guest during their visit.

Review Summary

Vien Dong is widely regarded as a charming and authentic local destination for Vietnamese cuisine, frequently praised for its fresh ingredients, flavorful grilled dishes, and satisfying soups. Many visitors highlight the exceptionally friendly and welcoming service, noting that the restaurant is well-suited for groups and offers a convenient bring your own wine option. While the vast majority of experiences are positive and emphasize the delicious, homemade quality of the meals, some inconsistencies have been noted regarding portion sizes, specific dish textures, and restaurant cleanliness. Despite a few reports of mixed value and varying service quality, the establishment remains a popular and reliable choice for those seeking a warm dining atmosphere.

I had big expectations for this place. The food was okay, I ordered the spring rolls (4$ for 2 small ones), dumplings (7$ for 4) & the vegetable Phò. The spring rolls were really tasty but they should be bigger for the price or they should add 2 more. The server did his job, he took my order & brought the food but I never saw him smile or say thank you. He didn't look happy to work today.. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, the design was cute. I was actually sad about the fact that there were no chopsticks with the other ustensiles.. They had good vegeterian options!👍

Excellent food quality & freshness. We had the "Menu for 2"; quantity was sufficient for 2 people. The wonton soup is different than what we're used to but very good. The main dish (I forget the name) was excellent. The General Tao was not fully to our liking, but was fresh & tasty; we just prefer a different recipe of the sauce. Service is excellent & exemplary, regardless of who you deal with & makes the entire experience a great one!

First & last time for us here. We ordered steamed dumpling as a starter. Standard six pieces which were barely warm, & in a pasty peanut butter sauce. Wife had a large chicken Pho which was not very tasty nor hot. I had the large rare beef & beef ball Pho which had slivers of beef, but not rare, was some type of shrivels of tasteless shredded meat. The balls were some type of processed product. Also not very tasty.
There are no sauces on the table. They give about a tablespoon of hoisen & siracha in a small dish. Not impressed.
