UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.
Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

Reviews for Umami Ramen & Izakaya
Reviews often mention
ramen(231) vegan(110) cocktail(80) degustation(71) menu dégustation(53) sake(46) dessert(32) saveur(30) miso(28)We got 2 soups to go. Hopefully the experience on site is better than the take out experience. Our order took a good 50 mins to be ready. Once at home, the soups were luke warm (ate 5 mins after picking up the order). The tofu seemed rubbery & the broth itself did not seem as rich as a ramen broth would - the tangy fermented cabbage negated the umami flavour. The portions were quite small for the price.View more
The restaurant is nicely decorated, light filled & fun. Wait staff is friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Food was creative, & really tasty. It is my third time there, this time for a small birthday celebration & the experience was everything I hoped it would be. I had noted in my reservation that it was a birthday dinner & they seated us at a really nice table, it was great! My husband is not vegan & I am, he loved all of the food. Would highly recommend.View more
The mapo tofu ramen was fantastic! Full of sichuan pepper flavors, with shungiku (chrisanthemum) & kimchi. I'm usually not a big fan of silk tofu but here it fit perfectly with the bowl. They also have a very nice collection of cocktails: I had the enoki negroni where the mushroom taste was a nice addition, & the grilling of enoki just before serving a fantastic idea. I know several heavy meat-eaters who love this vegan place. A restaurant extremely recommended for everyone!View more

View more

Service was not great. Ordered an appetizer & took about an hour to get asked if i wanted to order something else. Had to wait at least 45 minutes to get the bill which the waitress never brought i had to go to the bar to ask if we could pay so i could finally leave. Waitress checked on other tables never on my friend & i... horrible service especially for a restaurant that was not busy. Food was great but overall experience was not due to the horrible service.View more
Having lived in Japan, I would never describe this as an "Izakaya" lol. BUT it's a fantastic, trendy restaurant for sure.View more
View more
Nous allons revenir c'est certain ! Les cocktails étaient bons!View more
Excellent! View more
Food was a little too spicy & the sauce too sweet & thick for the Mapo tofu ramen. We didn't feel like someone was our server so we didn't know whom to ask for the bill & whom to ask again when it felt like they had forgotten us.View more
View more
Incroyable. View more
