Although the food was good, the taste & creativity of the dishes were far below expectations, hence they could not rise up to the posted prices. We opted out of dessert to limit the disappointment. My experience from a few years ago was 5 stars, as the food was fantastic & we left on a full & happy stomach. Truly hoping this local spot can get back to that level.View more
Let me start with the service - outstanding. Really one of the best experiences I've had. Our waiter was super kind, patient, professional & made us feel very welcome. The food is really good. In my opinion it is not "fine dining" but nonetheless excellent! The pasta was a very nice dish, well balanced, creative & nicely plated. The fish was good. Basic. Desserts are good. Overall good experience.View more
Firstly I am not a person who usually posts reviews -basically if I don't feel it's worth a second visit -then I don't go back-but for TuckShop feel I need to -this is a place my wife has been wanting to go for some time now & finally she got a reservation. The staff experienced & well trained But -talk about overpriced....I have no issues paying for food as long as we get what we pay for-I had the lamp for $56 -well if you remove all the fluff fluff from the plate -there was no more than 3ounces of actual lamp. Wife had hungar steak for another $57 -with fries -honestly give a Ribsteak for a little more everyday of the week. Summary-alot of expectations after waiting for months -absolutely not worth the wait . Like I said -I don't mind paying $200 per couple but here you do not get what you pay for . Just to finish -as I & my buddy walked in after dropping off the ladies -an attendee just asked if we are looking for the 2 ladies at which point he said "you guys must be in the doghouse cause you are going to pay plenty for the meal"unquote. Montreal is full of restaurants -choice another. SorryView more
As always, the food is very good. However, I did find it very pricey. I know the products are local & very fresh, but TS isn't the only trendy restaurant with fresh ingredients, but they are a lot more $$$. We go out to dinner for an experience, for a night out, etc., so I don't mind spending if there is value there. What made me the most disappointed is how quickly our table was turned around. (This is where the 3* for service comes from - our server was very pleasant & knowledgeable so I don't want to take anything away from that). We had three courses served within 1h20mins max. We weren't even seated for 1.5 hrs! While I understand there is a system, when I'm spending $100+ on a meal for one person, I expect to actually be able to enjoy my meal. Our reservation was at 7pm & we literally were walking out of the restaurant by 8:15-8:20pm. I've been to TS several other times & never had this experience so I hope it was a one off, but I can't say I'll be back anytime soon because I certainly didn't get the experience or night out I was hoping for.View more
Very good our waiter was nice & atmosphere was beautiful & the service was extremely quick. You can wait 15 minutes & get your hanger steak. The atmosphere was also very nice.View more
Ok... you are looking for good & tasty food ? With nice staff ? With real homemade cook ? So please try Tuck shop... probably now one my favorite place in Montreal.View more
We were Invited to Celebrate my husband's birthday by a good friend. First time at Tuck Shop & it amazed me very much. Food are very delicious, staff are kind, the decor are very nice. Highly recommend.View more
Very interesting place. The name does not fit well for the menu. I enjoyed my experience but the $$$ for the food was not reasonable. I had to go eat something else after because I was still hungry.View more
We went for my wife's birthday last night & had very high hopes. We sat at the chefs counter as we've done a couple times before & have always had an amazing experience. Maybe just an off night last night, but everything came so fast, it felt as if they were just trying to turn over our table. We asked for everything to be slowed down a bit after the starters came at the same time as the cocktails, but it just kept coming. The food overall was good (some minor oversights on preparation & dietary restrictions) but at +$400 we expected more all around & left feeling disappointedView more
Every dish on the limited menu was outstanding. Great service & vibe. Only complaint would be the noise level. But hey - it's a popular & cozy spot.View more
Everything was great, the service was impecable from the greeting at the door & the staff was friendly & knowledgeable the food was excellent, asparagus, pork belly & oisters were the stars & very good the whole table raved about it all. The outside terrace was an unexpected surprise. Highly recommend my only regret was not being able to taste everything on the menu.View more
View more
Blown away by the service here. All servers were so kind, polite, & accommodating without being overbearing. The cocktails were on point & the food was excellent & unique, highlighting seasonal quebecois produce. I'm still thinking about the mango jasmine cake we had for dessert. Would love to come back again when I'm in town & would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely dining experience.View more
Atmosphere was amazing, service was fast & attentive. But the steak i ordered was overcooked, dry & equivalent to a flank steak i could by from Walmart. Places like these should have food you crave & not only bells/whistles. It's mediocre for the price you pay.View more
One of the best restaurants in St-Henri. The menu changes a lot, but I've never been disappointed.View more
First, let's address the outside of the restaurant, looks a bit too sketchy for the price point, however as soon as we got through the doors, it's definitely well decorated. Second, the chef seat (seats facing the kitchen). It was really interesting to watch the cooks, however, the main focal point that we could see, he wasn't prepping our food, except the oysters, he was prepping for the shift (we arrived as they opened, 5pm). I was hoping to see more of our dishes garnished/prepped, since we went for the sampling menu. Third, the drinks, we can't comment as we don't drink alcohol & chose to just stick with water. Fourth, the food.you can tell the cooks are exquisitely skilled & masters at what they do. That being said, for 100+ per person, I must nitpick. The food was just slightly too salty. Some elements of some dishes I couldn't stomach because of the salt levels. For reference, I usually never drink water with my meals, I was chugging water between each course. The ingredients definitely are super fresh & of high quality. The sampling menu is 105$ per person. Portions were big & filling. The food is very good but not fantastic because it was too salty. Fifth, the service. The service is impeccable. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, & willing to help. Clean dishes after every service. Lots of water filling. Big smile. Exceptionally attentive. 10/10 The tldr, ambiance 10/10, ingredients 10/10, service 10/10, cook skills 10/10, how salty the dishes were 6/10. Seeing our dished being cooked 4/10 : only saw our oysters being shucked, would've been nice to have the chefs talk to us (not a single word was spoken by the chef). I believe your experience will be better than mine, the staff & chefs do seem to take the feedback very seriously. :)View more
We've been to Tuck Shop a handful of times now. I never walk into a restaurant expecting to be disappointed, but the old addage goes "nobody bats a thousand". Tuck Shop. Tuck Shop bats a thousand. This time around we started with the Quebec snow crab legs, followed by the duck breast & the lobster pasta. The crab was sweet, & able to speak for itself. They got out of the way, took the deshelling difficulty with them, & let the flavour shine (with flavoured mayo & cocktail sauce on the side, should one want to dabble). The lobster pasta was perfectly cooked, & not over salted - something I have experienced with so many lobster pasta dishes in the past, that I figured that's just how the world worked. The duck breast dish was the star of the show for me. My amateur words cannot give the flavour its dues. The Dion Waiters award goes to the celery root puree that put up big numbers in a limited game time. Dessert was the olive cake (with rhubarb & vanilla ice cream), & a peach frozen yogurt sandwich. Strong contenders, but still unable to dethrone the homemade apple pie we had on our first visit as my Tuck Shop dessert GOAT. The service was quick, & ever-friendly - a staple of any visit to Tuck Shop. The recommended wine pairings for our mains were right on the money. (Disclaimer: we are far from sommeliers or wine connoisseurs.) We are already looking forward to our next Tuck Shop adventure.View more
Update April 2024, as good as ever! Wine list, service & food were 5 stars. If you want to splurge on a special occasion this is a top spot in Montreal to do so! Superb service & food. The food speaks for itself. Fresh ingredients, delishious dishes with great flavors. The service is some of the friendliest, most bilingual ive had recently. Could be a little over bearing if you dont want someone checking in on you very often, but for me it added to the night. Duck appetizer, the duck main & the roasted quail.View more
