About

Tsukuyomi Ramen specializes in authentic Japanese noodle craft, focusing on rich tonkotsu broth bases simmered for hours to achieve maximum depth and complexity. The kitchen emphasizes traditional preparation methods, utilizing custom noodles that offer a distinctively firm texture alongside precisely soft-boiled seasoned eggs. Bowls feature meticulously prepared pork chashu, sliced to maintain a delicate balance of fat and lean meat while ensuring optimal tenderness in every bite. The dining environment maintains a functional aesthetic that prioritizes the focus on the bowl, featuring efficient layouts conducive to concentrated consumption of hot noodle soups. Garnishes like fresh green onions, toasted nori, and black garlic oil add structural variety to the flavor profile of each signature offering. Patrons encounter a direct approach to Japanese culinary traditions where broth consistency and noodle integrity serve as the primary metrics of quality.

Review Summary

Tsukuyomi Ramen is widely regarded as a standout destination in Montreal, celebrated for its rich, flavorful broths, silky noodles, and high-quality Japanese appetizers like Goma salmon and Ika Age. Many patrons appreciate the restaurant's cozy, authentic atmosphere, which is enhanced by beautiful decor featuring Sakura trees and Japanese art, making it a comfortable spot for both casual meals and special events. While the vast majority of visitors highlight the consistent excellence of the food and the friendly, attentive service, some diners have noted occasional issues with consistency and portion sizes. Overall, the experience is frequently described as a hidden gem that offers an enjoyable and welcoming dining experience, with many guests eager to return for the well-crafted dishes and pleasant environment.

I ate in order: Takoyaki, a Chashu Tonkotsu ramen, drank a Matcha & then ate a mango cheesecake. They were all delicious. Very pretty restaurant & nice staff as well. There weren’t a lot of people when I went as I arrived relatively early, so, I got easy access to the staff.

Ramen was tasty. Rice bowls & Kara Age were just ok. Honestly, the portions are too small for the price. Left still hungry for a bill that didn’t match. Maybe worth it to try the Ramen once, but probably won’t be coming back.

Great authentic Japanese ramen & side dishes to share. The Tonkotsu ramen (porc) is my all time favourite.

Located in the most recent development of the Quartier Bois-Franc, Tsukuyomi is in a small commercial section that faces Henri-Bourassa West & opposite the IGA. The resto is designed in a modern izakaya style with bleached wood furnishings & a generally lighter & airier experience than a typical dark wooded izakaya.

The menu is ramen focus (both hot & cold)...for our meal we ordered Chicken Tonkotsu (good but a little bland), Goma Salmon (very good), Gyoza (very good...a classic), Pumpkin Korroke (interesting...not bad, just interesting), & Karaage Donburi (good...but a bit plane...just fried chicken in a plain rice bowl). The service was very friendly & attentive. Overall a worthy visit & good to have a decent Japanese resto in that part of town. Enjoy!

It’s more of a 4.5 rating for me, as I wish they had just a little more variety of tonkotsu ramens. But the one they have is pretty good.
