I have been here before, & it is your typical Chinese restaurant with fair service. However i did like the food, but not everyone in our party did.
What annoyed me the most was when one waiter waited behind us while my father in law was counting the money to pay the bill. He is a senior & can be slow, but the waiter wouldnt move away & kept reminding us that the tip was extra!!
My father was a successful restaurateur in Montreal for decades. I am fully aware good service deserves good tip, but we tipped nonetheless for the'service' we got!
Typical chinese restaurant service with no manners, tact, or class. But i did like the food & the company i was with!!View more

Great local authentic Chinese restaurant. Large dining room. Lots of staff for quick & friendly service. Also open for dim sum until 2pm each day. Parking can be a challenge during peak hours. Street parking is available. The food is very tasty & the portions are good. Price is fair for the portions that you get. Take out available as well.View more

On a summer vacation visiting my mom & sister from also my nephew & his LARGE family also in town from Toronto, we came to Tong Por for a family dinner.
As it was on the eve of Ste Jean Baptiste Day holiday in Quebec, the restaurant was not as crowded on a Monday night - as people are traveling or camping.
We were given a large table with rotation capability for easy food access by everyone, We ordered:
* Cantonese Stewed Brisket w/ Daikon
* Sweet & Sour Pork Chops
* Deep Fried Salt & Pepper Tofu Cubes
' Salt & Pepper Fired Chicken
* Beef & Gailan in Oyster Sauce
* Black Bean Steamed Fish
* Crispy Cantonese Chow Mein
The food took a little bit time to come out of the kitchen, but once the first one arrived, the rest came rather quickly in succession. This is a Cantonese restaurant, which is one of our preferred Chinese cuisines, so they were very genuine & delicious. The service was quite good, as we (the visitors from. Toronto & California) happened to hit a heat spell in Montreal; temperature outside was in the high 35°C+, so they gave us a water pitcher with plenty of ice in it so no need to bother them constantly with a large party of 10 people.
In summary, Ville St Laurent used to have quite a few options when it comes to Chinese cuisines - avoiding the need to drive to Montreal Chinatown & parking headaches, however, due to the current economy & past COVID consequences, Tong Por is miraculously still serving St Laurent & its vicinity. So, if like us, you're craving for some yummy Cantonese cuisines & not wanting to bother fighting the traffic, give Tong Por a try.View more

This is the real folks. Show up before 11:30 to get a table (& a parking spot!). Food is good & hot at the table. Cart service so you need to keep an eye out for your favs to fly by! We had a table for 5 & were not crowded or rushed. Service was impeccable & friendly. Will for sure be back. If I can find a parking spot :)View more

Phenomenal food & service. We had general Tao, frog's legs, chow mein & lemon chicken. All of it was delicious (the frog's legs were a little chewy but the veggies it came with were delicious) & the servers clearly love their jobs, all joking with us & making sure we get what we want. Would definitely recommend & go again!View more

Si vous cherchez de la cuisine authentique asiatique, c'est un bon restaurant. L'expérience Dim Sum le dimanche est une expérience intéressante entre amis. Le service est efficace & rapide. Cependant, le menu devient vite redondant car ce sont toujours les mêmes items qui reviennent au cours du repas. Aussi, j'ai trouvé questionnable de voir que des poissons morts étaient laissés dans l'aquarium. L'eau dans l'aquarium était aussi très floue. L'alarme de feu a aussi retentit pendant une heure sans qu'on sache trop pourquoi.View more

I've had dinner here once before & ordered a couple days ago a huge takeout order for a Christmas lunch at work. The portions of food are excellent, especially for the price, youre getting more than your money's worth. The taste is great & the service is amazing. The only thing I can complain about is if you order the beef & broccoli, be ready to have a 4:1 Ratio of more broccoli. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place for some delicious Asian food that is fairly priced.View more
