Tinc Set means I'm thirsty in Catalan, a phrase we often say! It must be said that the project has been dreamed of for some time now... a more casual concept, located not far from the Alma, but not necessarily in the alley! From Mexico City to Barcelona, roast chicken has always fascinated us. A tribute to our youth and travel memories, Juan has been working for a while to perfect his recipe. The idea is to make the Mediterranean flavors shine with local products and wines from our winemakers. The Tinc Set is a return to simplicity. Family, sharing, happiness.

Review Summary

Tinc Set Montréal draws praise for a knowledgeable and approachable sommelier and for delivering food, ambiance and service that many describe as outstanding, with the octopus singled out as possibly the best in Montreal. The staff speak several languages, which enhances the dining experience, and the menu features crowd favorites like anchovy toast, tuna tostada, patatas bravas, a half roasted chicken, and a churro, though the chicken can be a touch dry and the churro arrived slowly on a busy night. Service is charming but occasionally inconsistent in timing, especially when several dishes arrive, yet the overall vibe remains very pleasant and relaxed. Wine is well chosen, with many guests enjoying French selections to accompany the flavors, and the experience overall suggests a Mediterranean influenced dining moment worth returning to for a quick bite and a glass of wine.

I came here for valentine's day & was very impressed with the food. It is very flavourful, playful, & well presented. We got the anchovy toast, the tuna tostada, the half roasted chicken, the patatas bravas, & the churro. The anchovy toast was banging, the tuna tostada was really amazing, patatas bravas... you can't go wrong with them. However, the half roasted chicken I was slightly disappointed with. Given the fact that this chicken was the precursor for the whole restaurant I was surprised it was a bit dry. Flavour-wise it was very yummy, the skin was delicious, but the meat itself felt like it had been stuck in the oven a bit too long. Finally, the churro was GREAT! But.. slow to arrive, more on that below.
Now onto the service. I realize that we went on a relatively busy night, but the food came out unbelievably inconsistently. The servers were very charming, & definitely made me feel better about the wait, but it was just strange. The first two dishes came out super quickly. I'm talking within 10 minutes of us ordering. However, the chicken & patatas bravas probably took another 40 minutes to come. Finally, when we ordered the churros for dessert (which mind you are a quickly deep fried dish) it took another 20 minutes. Luckily, the company was lovely so the wait didn't feel so bad, however, if I was going any other time, or if I wasn't wanting to spend 2 hours there, I would have been quite disappointed.
Finally, the ambiance was very nice. Much more relaxed than their sister restaurant Alma. I think overall a 4/5 is a reasonable rating, & I would definitely go again, but maybe for a quick bite & a nice glass of wine.

Spanish inspired tapas style restaurant & wine bar. The service was great, & our host was very attentive & courteous, however the dishes were a hit or miss. The ceviche & tuna tostada were the highlight, but the mussels & patatas bravas were a bit disappointing. Also the prices for some the dishes are on the higher side & portions were tiny. I would recommend this restaurant is you want to enjoy a few glasses if wine & not planning on eating a big meal. They also have a huge selection of wine to choose from.

It wasn't my first time at Tinc Set, but I can honestly say that it's always a pleasant experience. Their tapas are phenomenal, & every night they have 3 different types of wine, that they serve by the glass. Last Saturday the wines were a white, orange & red from Catalonia, all natural & privately imported. The service was outstanding, & the food was out of this world. I went with two of my friends & we practically ordered the entire menu. The dishes that truly stood out were the scallop ceviche, served on a bed of guacamole, the grilled octopus with mashed potatoes & chorizo oil, & tuna tostada , which was the most flavoured tostada , I had ever had. The sauce on tuna was made of smoke sea breem, it was creamy, zesty & had a great kick to it. Thd brussel sprouts were insane, deep fried with a creamy sauce made with anchovies. The churros are unconventional & a must try as well!
